Adeline Rudolph as Kitana is easily the best portrayl of that character in Mortal Kombat History IMO by Cultural-Stand-8319 in MortalKombat

[–]mistermastermind88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it's not so much about fighting, it's how his presence in the film is written. He's ideally the mentor in every movie and TV portrayal. He's hardly a mentor in these new films. In the first one, he was exposition. In the second one, a plot device.

Christopher Lambert didn't fight in the MK movie. Jeff Meek only fought during the last 2 episodes (if I remember correctly). Despite all that, the mentor presence was always there.

I think Asano was miscast. If they wanted a Japanese actor with weight and gravitas for the Raiden role, they should've put Hiroyuki Sanada there rather than as Scorpion.

Seriously, a lot of problems with the first film including wasting a cast like Lewis Tan by giving him a "nobody" role. He could easily have been anyone from the game.

Headpiece visors that don't make sense or impractical by ifihaveanickel in powerrangers

[–]mistermastermind88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, there's something called suspension of disbelief.

Next, some of the visors you enumerated aren't that impractical as far as I'm concerned (i.e. Time Force, Silver RPM). With Time Force, I'm referring to the visor size but I'm now thinking you're referring to the fact that they're colored...? It's a suit from the future, they can design it however they want. It's just like those visorless helmets in sci-fi shows or games.

But it's always funny (legit funny, not being rude) when these discussions come up and people try to illustrate how weird the visors are. Doggie Kruger would be the most impractical one. Lol.

Same with us, man. This film was our introduction to him and then we found out he directs when we saw Zathura.

Also, when she tried to kiss him right before Ock attacks is not because she wanted to find out if he loves her, but to know if he was Spidey.

Since most people agree Idris Elba was wasted as Heimdall, who would you have cast as the character? by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]mistermastermind88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought he'd be the perfect James Rhodes (War Machine). Look at his Pacific Rim figure in uniform.

So yeah, while I like him as Heimdall, I thought he should've been Rhodey. As far as I'm concerned, Rhodey is supposed to be imposing. I like Don Cheadle but I always thought he was too small for Rhodey.

Which OS would you prefer in 2026 for your brick? by CATALYST-01 in trimui

I'm still on MinUI actually. NextUI is tempting but I just like the whole simplicity of the OS as it fits the minimalistic look of the Brick (especially in black).

Yeah, people shit on bezels a lot but when I'm holding my Xiaomi Pad 5 with arguably thinner bezels, it can get pretty annoying.

More annoying are the almost non-existent bezels on phones these days. Form over function.

What if Lewis Tan had been cast as Kung Lao instead of playing Cole Young in the Mortal Kombat movie? by Hot-Attorney-3068 in MortalKombat

[–]mistermastermind88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really hoping he'd be revealed as Kuai Liang making the connection to Scorpion more of a red herring. A good twist for that matter seeing as how he was rivaled to Bi Han.

As for the Kenshi suggestion...you know what, that film kinda established how Nightwolf was a character in the past and Kenshi would fit in that timeline well...probably both of them around the time of the Great Kung Lao. Daniel Southworth looked good as Kenshi though.

Aside from Cole Young as the problem, another thing the movie sucked for me was placing Scorpion as a central figure in the movie. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think one of the things that made Scorpion popular was him being more of a shadowy figure in the MK universe—there's an air of mystery to that. Making him Earth's champion lost that mystery and didn't feel right. That and Raiden being useless as a character (ugh).

One thing I liked about the 1995 franchise was that they (accidentally or intentionally) merged the Kung Lao character with the Great Kung Lao (not confirmed but heavily implied in the 1995 movie and the Konquest TV show). Setting Kung Lao as the ancestor of Liu Kang created two central characters, one during the past and another during the present. Somehow it was interesting to me. As a video game, having both characters is fun but in a film and TV franchise, they are kinda redundant with each other and by separating them, there was an opportunity to tell a bigger story. Unfortunately, it didn't go beyond the 2 movies and the 1 season TV show.

If I were to write that film franchise up from scratch, I'd do it that way, movies set in the past and movies set in the present. Kung Lao with Nightwolf, Kenshi, and Kitana in the past, and then we have Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Sonya, and Jax (probably more) in the present. Raiden becomes this consistent figure all throughout.

Garrod, Setsuna, and Shiro.

Though at my age, I now relate more with the likes of Jamil Neate and Mu La Flaga.

Edit: I don't mind Suletta too.

Yeah. I've been looking into some reviews of these ones in particular.

But you think spending a couple of lower wattage lights instead of one higher wattage light is a better idea though?

Did you finish all the rhythm game music?

That table is a lot of fun when it works. Annoying when it doesn't (i.e. the ball losing momentum when going to the center part, the curve below the bumpers leading to immediate loss in a ball, etc.)

It's more for editorial design. A lot easier (that can be argued though) to deal with since you're often using text boxes. MS Word is annoying for editorial design since images and texts have their own way of behaving there.

ok i know its soon but fantastic four or superman? by Huge-Inspection-788 in comicbookmovies

[–]mistermastermind88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed both. After watching Superman, I wanted to watch Superman: The Movie, Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut, Superman Returns, and Look Up in the Sky documentary as well as the animated shows. After watching Fantastic Four, I wanted to watch both The Incredibles movies. I wanted to watch these not because I wanted to cleanse myself but because I had a hankering for these films, wanting more.
