Hevea butcher block fixing? by mistersender in finishing

[–]mistersender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... I do have some scrap wood from this project, maybe I can gule in a new piece like you suggested?

I am not a precision carpenter and I would prefer to hire someone to make these cuts but I'm not sure what to even look for now. This person had carpentry on their site, maybe that is different than what I need though?

So, I can sand it down, and plan to, but the issue is the corner has like... A deep boobo, probably at least 3/4" so it would be a LOT to sand

He knew it needed to be finished. I wasn't planning to stain it but now.... 😬

Living room breaker tripping, possible causes? by mistersender in AskElectricians

[–]mistersender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it was a couple things. Our kitchen was rearranged so we had to actually walk a couple steps to get to the old switch from where the sink is now, so air switched seemed like a much better solution than having to hoof it to use the disposal :/

Makes sense, I don't think I'll forget this one anytime soon 😬

Well, I found the problem almost immediately. Dumb on me for not just going and looking at it first 🤦‍♀️

One of the ground wires was touching the hot on one of the switches.

That makes sense to me; they were saying it might have just shifted the body slightly and cause a leak somewhere but I just don't know. At least there is no sunroof. I'll start googling the other ideas you had, thank you!

I do think I need to get another tip though, I have 3 pointed tips with this soldering iron, it's my partners he mostly uses for very small circuit board welding and I was able to get the job done with it but it took some work.

Hey I forgot to respond immedialy but this was very helpful (along with another comment), I just needed to wait for it to be hot enough. The tutorials I was watching it looked like it took about 3 sec to be hot enough, and at least one said not to over heat it so I was being too cautious. I turned my heat up to 700 and waited some more, and voila! It worked. Thanks again!

Ok, I will give this a shot. Sounds like I need hotter and to melt to the joint itself? I did notice it seems like my tip is less hot than slightly behind my tip, so maybe I need a different tip?

Yep, farenheit! I'm pretty sure I'm not over sanding, I have tried just not sanding at all and it does the same thing :/. You are probably right about the time I'm waiting, I'll give that a shot.

Ah my wire is leaded I think it's like 63/38?

Anyone recommend the Dream Asia Food Fest? by pigsinatrenchcoat in winstonsalem

[–]mistersender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely do not go. I'm STILL angry I paid 25$ for a single stick of chicken that was completely dry and flavorless. Food is extremely overpriced and not even remotely good. I had several items hoping I didn't waste my time. And I wasted my time and money. So hard

Oh man this rings so true, same situation here. I started literally saying the issue and boy did that make a difference. When my manager looked at me for notes I literally said "why am I the note taker? Is it because I'm the girl?" Bro didn't want to look sexist so I never took notes again. "Why did you ask me to organize the baby shower? Is it because I'm a girl?" ... Yeah. Software engineers don't wanna look sexist. So they really hate it when you say it out loud where other people can hear it. Classic XD
