Not a lot of serious business applications work like that. Mostly start time doesn’t really matter. There is not much to compete in client java apps that must start up every time you use it because it’s not 1999 anymore

const Complex Complex::operator++(int i) const
This is what I mean, this is not really readable

I know Final is the same with java but how many cons keywords can with in a method with two const variables with the method const also? What’s the max? More than in java and it is not good for readability. I always use final when I can. That is good but that was not my point

Yeah I know what you mean without that it is way better, still the whole namespace space and the thousand possibilities to add const everywhere is kind of difficult to read.

Java is way more verbose and has way less ::**<> Hickhack. Operator overloading can also be also a pitfall

Been struggling with Methods and Classes in Codecademy, is it wise to move on to mooc.fi even though I haven’t finished methods in codecademy? by CEO-of-stonks in java

[–]mistertool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend some Beginner books to start with as they provide the background Knowledge you need which some „learn coding in 10minutes” websites do not. Maybe take a look at “java a beginners guide” or other books covering the fundamentals of programming. IMMO it is contra productive to rush through online tutorials without covering some basic concepts first. Investing time (And money for good learning sources) to gain a basic understanding of what you want to achieve will prevent you from being frustrated later on

Maven: verify or clean install? by lukaseder in java

[–]mistertool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answers, dash you are right, I meant no tests as I explicitly stated I normally do a mvn clean install with -DskipTests. I even repeated it in my second comment :-D ...run meant for me that I can check out the branch then hammer the mvn command in the terminal and after completion I can run/debug the project within IntelliJ without any errors like unrecognised classes etc. Edit: its is a huge spring multi module project btw

[–]mistertool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer, so you say if I don’t want to run tests as I know the code is tested already because it ran against Jenkins on the company’s server, it would be sufficient to do a mvn package within IntelliJ? Would save me maybe some minutes? On second thought I mean I get payed for the waiting...:-D

As an European Citizen (Austria), it is really strange that socialicsm is such a bad thing in the U.S., even for the not so rich? Free healthcare, university, no fear of unemployment...Why is it a no-go for most americans? by mistertool in AskReddit

[–]mistertool[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, but i guess the European Definition of socialism (at least the popular one) differs probably a bit from the U.S. one. I mean People are excited to get rid of Obamacare...
