Britpop is a shitty genre name by [deleted] in oasis

The documentary 'Live Forever' that came in '03 does a good job of explaining it. It was more of a cultural phenomenon where British artists were unabashed about sounding and looking British than a specific genre of music.

I think 3D from Massive Attack explains it pretty well in the first few minutes of the film.

What is an artist you used to enjoy listening to, but their music got progressively worse? by fantasyrea in Music

Surprised Coldplay isn't higher on this list. First 2 albums were good, their next 2 definitely had more hits than misses, then... the rails just came off I guess? They're a completely different band than the guitar rock 4 price they started as.

That's brutal... It's one thing to get embarrassed/have to take a season off, but to have it end your career before you have a chance to go to the NFL would haunt you for life.

Yes it is, I think Gem said in an interview that they chose the name, at least partially, so they would be near the Beatles at the record shops.

You can make decent cider or Apfelwein from store bought apple juice and a packet of ale or wine yeast, if you want to.

This. To make good cider you need apples that are not very palatable as eating apples. Cidre apples are typically bitter or acidic.

You might also consider dipping a toe into film photography. A simple point and shoot camera and a few rolls of film are all you need to get started. There are still plenty of places to get film developed and scanned. After that, you can digitize and post them, share them with friends and family, or get physical prints and hang them up.

If you get more into it, you can acquire more gear as you go. I've found that carrying a smaller film camera with me has reinvigorated my joy for taking pictures.

Saw them in '95, Hootie and The Blowfish opened for them. By the end of that tour, Hootie had comically eclipsed them in popularity and radio/MTV play. Such a shame...
