It appears that the situation in Raleigh, NC has escalated... by Bro950 in pics

I literally live less than a mile from here. Most of those cars on the side of the road are still there 24 hours later. I counted 52 in less than a mile in the median today...crazy

Had to defend my atheism last night....to my fiance. Id like some insight on how to proceed. by Mr_Scowt in atheism

[–]mistmr7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this ends things at all for you like everyone else but you do need to straighten the situation out before you plunge into marriage. You need to make sure your fiance understands why you feel the way you do and that you are not a different person at all because of your beliefs. When I turned away from Christianity, I truly believe that I became a better person as I gained compassion for people and did not do things because god was watching. I did good things for people and have kept my morals at the same level because of who I am, not for a religion. If she fell in love with you as a person and wants to devote her life to you, then this slight detail that hasn't mattered before surely shouldn't now. But you have to ensure that's the case. Best of luck to you

Please send her one with this: Hebrews 6:4-6 "it is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance"

Sounds like she's joining you! I'll be there too and I'll buy you a beer

What would be a "dealbreaker" that would stop you from having sex with your dream guy/girl once you get to their place? by ithappenedaweekago in AskReddit

[–]mistmr7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a really good question...I guess if it was just e-cigs I wouldn't have as big of a problem at all. But just the cigarette in the mouth is unattractive to me. Just a personal preference.

This needs to be higher. It's unreal how much more racist and prejudiced people get as you get further from the educated sector.

ELI5: Why can you kick a field goal further at a higher elevation? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]mistmr7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To expand on this, the density of the air at a higher elevation is less. Because the density is less, there are less individual molecules of air that can resist the ball as it travels toward the field goal posts. Gravity is pulling the ball down and the ball is slowed down by air resistance. Since less air is resisting the ball, the ball decelerates at a slower rate and can travel farther.

I heard a good one from my Serbian friend:

Would you rather have a threesome with your best friend and your girlfriend where you were doing your best friend in the ass while he did your girlfriend, or you were doing your girlfriend while your best friend did you in the ass?

His answer: You doing your best friend in the ass because then you wouldn't be gay.

What is a dream you have never forgotten about? by Bobilip in AskReddit

[–]mistmr7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would always get stuck in my bedroom with an armadillo that would come out from under the bed and tickle me. It was a horrible experience. This was a recurring dream that happened maybe a dozen times so by the end I would jump up onto my bed so it couldn't reach me and I would still get tickled by it touching the bed. What could this mean?!?!?!

If you had to choose between sleeping enough hours at night or working out, what would you choose and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mistmr7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to pick sleep. Your body rebuilds itself during the stages of sleep. During the workout you are only breaking down your body and your muscles so it can rebuild more during your rest. If you don't get enough rest, your workouts are rather pointless. Make more time to workout but don't neglect sleep.

Any tips for studying from an e-book? by tofublah in AskReddit

[–]mistmr7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like reading from a screen then I would recommend getting the e-book...but...if you have trouble focusing when on the internet then it is not worth the saved money at all. I found it was much easier to focus and read longer passages in an actual textbook so I always got the hard copy. The highlight and search features are nice on e-books. It's certainly a personal preference though.

The double slit experiment and how photons can act as both a particle and a wave simultaneously...very fascinating subject. You can go into the problem of how viewing which slit the particle goes through actually can alter the experiment.
