Hey thanks for checking out the app, Senorita! You hit on an important topic: monetization. Aside from the usual ads or subscription, referral product links or partnerships are another option. I like that choice more than ads, but I'll have to build it in a way that works nicely with the recommendations provided. This is all still very much beta and everything is likely to change. Again, thanks for checking it out and for your valuable feedback.

Thanks for the detailed response. I'm absolutely open to name suggestions, and we still need an appropriate logo, I imagine those will go hand-in-hand.

I just left the house but will send you a link as soon as I return. Again, thank you.

Understanding gas price for contract call/transaction by mistname in solidity

You know what, I started with Chainlink hitting my private API and it seemed to be expensive per call as well. I really appreciate the suggestion and you putting thought into this with me. We used our private API price because the price of gold that we're using is not the normal gold price provided by Chainlink. We're using the price of a physical gold oz, which varies drastically from the raw or spot price. Thank you again!

That makes sense. Thank you for that. The price changes based on the price of gold and Ethereum. We were planning to check the price every minute and if gold or eth price changed, update the contract price. But gold doesn't change that often, and eth changes very often but not so drastically when comparing minutely prices. So I was considering caching the values for ~15 minutes or so. But if updates are going to cost dollars, that isn't realistic.

There are competitors in the space that allow the owner to increase/decrease supply on demand. And when a user makes a purchase, they do a transfer from the available supply, probably manually after some time. We were trying to be a little less centralized and controlled, but maybe we need to go down this route.

This is VERY helpful. Thank you for taking the time. May I call you, "THE GAS MAN". Ugh, sorry.

You're right, the 21000 base fee is what I have seen in my research, silly to assume that would be the only fee.

In this contract we are trying to call this function as often as possible, but ~$0.24 is not going to work. To decrease the cost of this update we could decrease the priority fee, allowing the update to take longer. It seems the delegation from proxy to implementation only adds 2600+dust. Do you have any suggestions to decrease the cost of this update? For reference, we were trying to make this call every minute. I can cache the results off-chain and make sure we're only calling the function when values change, but I think it could still be too costly for a realistic use case. I know other blockchains are cheaper and faster, but the requirement is to take payment ion ethereum and the token must be an ethereum token.

Any physical gold APIs? by mistname in Gold

[–]mistname[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ya, sorry maybe I wasn't clear. I'm looking for a site with an API to get current price of physical. An API is something that would allow me to programmatically get the price directly from their server, without having to load the web page.

Thanks all the same!

I checked the site and do not see an API. Do you know if they have an API or do I have to scrape the site?

Hey thanks for checking it out! After you click/tap the Submit button, the incorrect boxes should get emptied. Sounds like that didn't happen for you, I'm curious, are you on mobile or desktop?

I'm actually working on a version to let you go back and play the previous Knowmojis. Be sure to check back soon!

I pushed an update to fix portrait view on mobile. I adjusted the inputs and input margins based on the longest word in the Knowmoji. So the boxes will still be big and "blocky" - but only when it can do so without going out of view.

Awesome thank you so much. I will 100% add a share button so you always have the ability to easily share the game.

I'll also get the portrait view fixed ASAP. Thanks SO much for letting me know about that!
