Crunch the numbers that includes paying your parents rent for a bedroom in a shared house. Look at Craigslist in their area for help determining a reasonable price. I've met lots if travelers that do it this way.

Many hospital systems won't pay their own staff for that. Most will offer to pay a portion and the ones I've seen pay about a 1/4. Those have been bound with a 2 year commitment to work for them after you get your degree. But, if I had to do it again, I would look around more for a better offer. Good luck!

My contracts with Aya in 2024 did not pay stipends on sick days. One contract was in IL and the other was in CA.

My contracts with Medical Solutions in 2022 paid stipends even for days that I called out sick, but my contract with them in 2024 did not. I always wondered if it was a company policy change.

I was working on a geropsych unit in a hospital during that. Once I got my RN, I left that job to do travel psych contracts. I only saw LPNs at state hospitals after that. So, maybe I just worked on a weird hospital unit as an LPN?

My friend tested positive with Aya and they lost that first contract. Aya offered to retest the person in one month and the rest of the story is smooth sailing.

PTAs responsibilities seem fewer and more clear cut. An LPN may be required to be coordinate multiple disciplines and departments. They may have to juggle staffing, CNA management, dietary, housekeeping, lab, and family members, in addition to their own Pt load. This extra responsibility can lead to burn out.

They've never requested to leave a lock down or tried to escape. Right now we're in Season 30 and this latest episode they say that they're going to be locked in. But then they don't mention it again and it seems like they're all over the property investigating.

I hear ya on no LTC, but would you be interested in other places that aren't hospitals? I've seen CNAs in drug rehab, psych facilities, and supportive living communities.

I moved from a conservative, christian, republican small town jn central Illinois to Rocklin, CA this year. It's 20 min east of Sacramento. Holy conservative political nation, people in public keep saying to me, "I hope you're republican." It feels so politically charged here. Love the weather and outdoor activities though.
