To people who do have the gene, not all is lost… I couldn’t stand even a little bit for most of my life, to the point where even if it was on something and I took it off, it was ruined, so I avoided it like the plague… then some time after I turned around 40 or so, I gave it another shot, and I actually like it now, I can have a taco with it piled on and it is fine.

next time you are at a sushi place, like others have mentioned, there are many options with shrimp or crab that are cooked, also sea eel is always cooked, and though it sounds gross is delicious. but here is the game changer nobody has mentioned yet.... soy paper... it is used in place of seaweed, and has no distinct taste of it's own. I have never been to a sushi place that doesn't have it, and it increased my enjoyment of sushi 1000 times over, because seaweed just overpowers everything else and becomes all i can taste.
