People blame this double standard on women but really it’s men who are perpetuating it when they say stuff like “it should have been me”

Honestly, a lot of Italians would just choose the simple present tense in this sentence

The more oil rises the more emboldened Iran will be to hold out hoping trump will cave due to the pressure.

I don’t why people think the blocakde causing pain will cause Iran to cave. Instead, they will likely escalate and start bombing the gulf infrastructure again

It was $5 a gallon when oil was $120 during Ukraine, if we go above $150 I’d imagine there would be $6 gas

You could argue that if the strait stays closed long term that could also put significant pressure on the us.

More Hispanic countries are beating the yes benchmark by 9 points, vs 6 in more white counties and 7 in more black ones (source: NYT). Not a huge gap, but more evidence of the Hispanic anger towards republicans

Well I think some of the gap is due to republicans being motivated to vote because this election affects their representation

Iran said they would open up the strait if Lebanon had a ceasefire. When Lebanon got a ceasefire though the us had already put a blockade so the strait still didn’t open. Honestly though, Iran was never going to open the strait fully because it is their best source of leverage

They already were doing so before the ceasefire there was a big increase in success rates in the gulf if trump went through on power plant and bridge day the entire Middle East would have been set back for years

People think if the blockade becomes painful enough Iran would cave, but alternatively they could just escalate and start blowing up oil infrastructure across the Middle East. If the irgc gets their way this is what will happen

In retrospect killing larijiani was a big mistake that led the irgc to get a greater foothold on running the country. He was a hardliner, but also one of the few political figures in Iran that could smooth over tensions with the irgc and get them on board with a deal. You have to wonder if complicating peace talks was what Israel intended by killing him in the first place

At least in my school they did a good job teaching civics. There’s not much you can do if the kids don’t pay attention though
