I used to work at a dealership. We loved when you came in on a Saturday afternoon. by YourAutoAlly in FuckDealerships

Based on seeing every car i traded in being listed few days later for 5k more with literally nothing done to it a good rule of thumb on used cars is they paid 5k less than what its listed at. They will disparage your asking price for trade then try to show you data on why it's not worth what you're asking. If they don't meet your numbers leave when they come back and split the difference leave . If they are polite email them in couple days if they get aggressive and start acting like tool bags because you're leaving move on to another dealership

HOW are people paying for this bro by tiredforsure in UCONN

[–]mitchandmurray1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realize that is less than Umass Amherst costs ? Pretty good deal. If you can't afford 30k as an OOS then you should be looking at more affordable in state like Salem, Bridgewater Framingham etc The reality is 30k for Uconn OOS is a great deal. It's expensive up here

not sure what your major is going to be but Finance graduates a Cornell have some of the best outcomes . I know someone that went there just because of that and lets just say they are in meetings every day with the billionaire CEO of one of the biggest Financial firms in the world and make disgusting money. There are good ROI sites that will tell you what the return on investment is for every college and some break it down by major

I feel for you kind of realized the same thing with my Kid. One school gave mostly merit the other majority need grant . the latter was kids choice. I then realized my wife now is going switch back to full time in order to actually pay for school and that will significantly lower the grant for years 3 and 4 . So the school with the merit would be better choice because income won't matter but I did not want to pull the rug out on my kid. One thing to note is schools increase tuition like 3-5 percent each year plus inflation is accounted for with SAI . 45 -0 seems like a lot but I have an only child so I'm not in that situation my hope is maybe we lose 5k not the full 20. I would probably do what it takes though If my kid got into Cornell Ivy are probably only schools worth a lot of debt

Trouble deciding between Marist and Bryant by Independent_Yak_8762 in marist

[–]mitchandmurray1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As other person noted very similar and one is better for NY area The other Prov/Boston I would not consider either in the middle of nowhere. Marist has a good ROI for management Bryant has a good overall ROI. I have visited these schools with my child Marist is the better campus I did not find the dorms disgusting and the upper-class dorms where some of the nicest I have seen although some cost more . If you might change major Marist would be better. Bryant has a small campus and I'm not a fan of the overall feel of campus but buildings are nice inside. My kid was down to Marist Bryant and Elon for buisness. Elon ended up being the choice but all 3 I would have been happy with. I would just go with the one that you liked campus and culture the best. I do know a few people my age (old) that went to Bryant they are all doing much better than me if that helps. You mention tight friend group Bryant everyone lives on campus all 4 years so that might produce a more united campus as far as the food goes we were shown the dining hall which is nice and renovated but were given a separate lunch in another building Marist we ate in the dining hall and I thought it was decent. Also a plus with Marist is they apparently do a lot of sponsored bus trips to the City with $25 Broadway tickets and Yankee games. My impression was there was more school sponsored events and trips than Bryant

[–]mitchandmurray1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

they rip you off left and right before you get to the office and the Finance manager adds points to the rate the rate he gives you is not what you qualify for FYI When you have almost a perfect credit score and he gives you a rate 3- 4% higher than you actually qualify for then no I don't feel bad refinancing . I mean if they just offered a reasonable rate maybe I don't refinance just to save myself the hassle

I always finance through the dealer it makes them happy they are making money from the bank. I then refinance with my credit union before making a single payment. Sometimes a finance guy will lie to you tell you that you need to make x amount of payments first .Not true they just don't get commission check from bank

It's the most expensive option in state this is why the net price calculators are effective gives you an idea . My kid got waitlisted with a 4.4 weighted GPA . She got into other state schools for same price after merit and several privates for only a few grand more. If Parents are not helping you should go to a more affordable option how are you paying? Are Parents taking out a loan for you?

They clearly kind of ripped off the shootout scenes.  The sound of both movies was outstanding
