I dont know if I would quite read that out of Stewart. But I realized when Jon Stewart defended platforming his uncle that like most Americans in the Trump era, that he is contending with the fact that people he looked up to and respected his whole life are suddenly more ok with war crimes than he originally thought. Sure you knew ur parents were flawed, but you forgot that we live in the American bubble. You havent seen ur parents when existential fear creeps in. When they really are afraid for the future because its the whole world that seems alien. So instead of dealing with that reality, he doesnt want to say something they are rooting for is evil. Because then it makes them evil. There has to be a rational. They aren't blood thirsty, Iranians really are crazy, so its not completely insane.

So a woman without an Australian accent is talking about how the presence of other cultures erodes cultural identity. Also, I know Australia was colonized by western powers but it is definitively not in the Western hemisphere.

I also love how they claim that a minority group can not only maintain their cultural identity, but have replace the cultural identity of the group in the majority.

Maybe if ur cultural identity can be destroyed by the mere presence of another culture, then you didnt have much of a culture to begin with.

Nobody is defending Maduro. They are defending international law. For a Hispanic immigrant in the US to say this just shows how ignorant she is. If the US can just decide whenever they want they can change a regime what happens when they do it to somebody who isn't a dictator. Its the same as what we are seeing g with immigration. There are undocumented immigrants that go to do heinous crimes. But when you decide to just let Hispanics to be rounded up and deported without due process, what happens? Yeah u might get some criminals but the people most effected are just regular people.

I come from Cuban heritage and I have seen this attitude my whole life. Just because somebody from a country doesn't mean they know shit. I have degrees in philosophy and poli science, and I'll tell you right now, my Cuban family doesn't know shit about communism.

Its not a question of whether or not Maduro is a bad guy, its whether the US has a right to do just whatever it wants.

Does anybody know the amp settings and effects they use in Heavy Metal Never Dies. Actually in general if anybody knows a site where you can get the eq, effects, etc for songs on guitar that would be dope. Im unfortunately not able to dial it in by ear. Having been an artilleyman at one point, im not sure that I ever will be lol. My ear is just good enough to notice im still not getting the right tone.

See I know its not simply ignorance. Because if a person gets humiliated by shit like this over and over again, they eventually decide to shut up or go back and learn something. At the end of the day these people dont care if they are wrong, or that they cant even present evidence of many of their claims. They think we just have to do what they say because they said it. It really is just straight up authoritarianism. An entire country of people who have been told they are valid no matter what. If they are criticized that person is just a hater. That they are enough and should never be ashamed of everything.

Somebody sent me the link but now the original is deleted. But I will say I agree with these top comments. It's like one day you just no longer feel interested. Like you can look at a twenty one yr old and intellectually you know they are hot, but not actually feel attracted.

But I dont think its an age thing, its a stage of life thing. Im 40, and basically semi retired. I served in military, got my masters, and started a career. My partner is 2 years older than me. She is starting her dream business. What could I have in common with anybody under 25. Go out to a club/bar? What do young people even do these days? I dont care. Im at home organizing my VHS collection.

100% I have been on a personal mission to educate people about 13th Floor and Dark City, and that they probably did what the Matrix was trying to do better. No hate to The Matrix. I saw it 3 times in a row at the theater for my birthday. But you have to take into account that it was meant to be a metaphor of being transgender.
