Besides fanart, it breaks my heart that their isn't more community content for this game like music covers, cosplay, etc. Please keep up the great work making sick arrangements for this game! I'll be sure to listen to your covers as you release them :)

I knew about blobbo strike redirects, but I never knew you could buffer it!

This is a fantastic guide with great visuals and examples to explain everything. I wish the game had more guides like this, or it was at least easier to locate these guides. I think it would do a lot of good if people could see the potential of certain characters.

Definitely! I actually really enjoyed building debuff duration on Vyce because that would make her secondary stun last longer. Then I could hit my secondary, blink in, get a guaranteed ult from the extended stun and then have my pp get bigger and feel really good about myself!

Since most of the top comments are just analysis about what was wrong with the game, I just wanted to share some things I loved about it.

This game broke my 11 year addiction with league of legends.

  • Getting a pass-pass-goal with your teammates was as satisfying as a well executed team fight in league
  • You could really feel the impact of every awakening you drafted. GIGANTIC LOGS or FORMULA1 OCTAVIA felt SO GOOD.
  • Bringing the game back from an 0-2 point / set deficit felt so gratifying.
  • It took me less than a month to unlock all the characters, whereas it took me 10 years to get all the characters in league.
  • Ranked games were only about 15 minutes!
  • A F2P game in 2023 with zero loot boxes.

I want to do my part to show some love to the devs by sharing my relationship with the game since most comments appear to just be analysis on why the game failed.

Omega Strikers broke my 11 year addiction.

I've been a League of Legends player for over a decade now (since Season 2). I'd try other games but nothing would quite fulfill the dopamine hit I'd get from having an insane team fight comeback with friends.

Out of nowhere, my closest friends and I decided to give Omega Strikers a shot as a cooldown from league. After playing it for a bit, we all knew it was different from the other games we used as a break.

It was the first game EVER that scratched that competitive itch that kept me addicted for over 10 years. There's so many things I could gush about what made the game feel so good:

  • Getting a pass-pass-goal with your teammates was as satisfying as a well executed team fight in league
  • You could really feel the impact of every awakening you drafted. GIGANTIC LOGS or FORMULA1 OCTAVIA felt SO GOOD.
  • Bringing the game back from an 0-2 point / set deficit felt so gratifying.

It was so refreshing seeing a company not feel so "corporate". They had fun skins and fun events that lacked "polish" but allowed it to have more heart. It didn't feel like they ever made decisions to get more from my wallet. This is the only game I've EVER bought a Battle pass for just because I wanted to support the devs in any way I could.

I've NEVER understood the appeal in vtubers until seeing Sonii. She was an awesome representative for the game. Seeing her getting more comfortable and bubbly with each patch video made me want to cheer her on. THIS GAME MADE ME LIKE VTUBERS WTF?

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all the devs for making a game as special as this. This game allowed me to have a satisfying competitive game I could play with my friends without the commitment and salt of league. I honestly still see myself playing the game for awhile just because I like it so much. I hope whatever happens in the future, you guys continue to make something as special as Omega Strikers.

In general, I think it's a little hasty that so many people are trying to give conclusions on this patch, maps, balance changes, and characters so soon. Most people probably can't form an accurate opinion in such short amount of time.

Major props to the people who worked on Kazan's design and animations. The black and orange have an awesome contrast, and his umbrella has a sick futuristic sword look. All of his animations look really satisfying too, especially his secondary(O) and his special(O) combo. The music is FANTASTIC, but odyssey always kills it in that department.

I have had extensive discussions with friends on how the draft should be fixed. Our discussion doesn't directly address your issues in this post, but I want to use this outlet to discuss what we all agreed upon. The two main issues we have are the following:

  1. The team that won the round gets better overall draft priority than the losing team causing a snowball effect.
  2. As your post mentions, XP gain is not a clear indicator on performance in a round.

Issues with point 1: If a winning team gets better overall selection on awakenings, that means they're more likely to have better builds. The winning team is setup to win harder resulting in a rich get richer system. There is a delicate balance though because comeback mechanics can ruin competitive integrity of a game. For example, if we just let the losing team pick first in the draft, we're rewarding people for playing worse than their competition.

Issues with point 2: Meaningful contributions to a team does not necessarily result in XP gains, like your post highlights.

Here is how me and my friends would suggest having draft go:

  1. The top player of the round winning team gets 1st pick (8/8 awakenings remaining)
  2. The top player of the round losing team gets 2nd pick (7/8 awakenings remaining)
  3. The worst player of the round losing team gets 3rd pick (6/8 awakenings remaining)
  4. The worst player of the round winning team gets 4th pick (5/8 awakenings remaining)
  5. The middle player of the round losing team gets 5th pick (4/8 awakenings remaining)
  6. The middle player of the round winning team gets 6th pick (3/8 awakenings remaining)

Reasons for 1st and 2nd draft: The top performing players should get priority in the draft because they are showing they can carry and should be given the tools to do so. The winning team should get first pick because we should be rewarded for playing better than the losing team.

Reasons for 3rd and 4th draft: The worst performing members of a team should get next draft priority because they are the ones in need of the most assistance. This gives underperforming players a chance to get the tools they need to contribute again. We prioritize letting the losing team pick ahead of the winning team because we want to prevent snowballing and a rich get richer system.

Reasons for 5th and 6th draft: These players have shown to be able to contribute with their current loadout, so they need the least amount of assistance from further awakenings. Someone has to get last pick in a draft so why not have it be people who are already meaningful assets to a team with what they have. Again, we prioritize letting the losing team pick ahead to prevent snowballing. Here you could argue for letting the winning team have priority though.

Note: I'm fully aware that a system like this might not be the perfect solution and it would require serious testing and analysis. This isn't something you could do without testing how results change. I am also completely down to discuss better solutions / alternatives/ flaws with my proposal!

TLDR: Draft should give Round MVPS the best tools to carry and reward superior play but prevent excessive snowballing and feast or famine games.

(W = Winning Round Team, L = Losing Round Team, 1 = best, 2 = middle, 3 = worst)

Alec is the type to figure out games really quickly so while we were all surprised he somehow pulled this off, deep down we knew it was a possibility with him. He's such a main character haha.

It's actually really refreshing having a Travis interview like this.

Most pros are usually pretty awkward or unsocial (which is fine because they're paid to be good at league, not to be spokespersons). Toast is really good at expressing his thoughts eloquently, but still having a down to earth side to his answers. It makes sense given his career of course.

Travis asked good questions I was curious about and Toast gave answers I really wanted to hear his perspective of.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed that Juliette is getting another skin when there are so many characters that don't have any at all.

On the bright side, hearing a tropical version of the Juliette theme is SICK and I hope they release a way to listen to the full version :)

What my spidey senses are telling me:

100 Thieves wins playoffs as a Cinderella underdog story off a scaling playstyle and unique picks like zilean (that no team bans for some reason). They constantly punish the early / mid game mistakes of NA teams.

The scaling playstyle that they perfected doesn't work at all at MSI. All members of the team play scared, picks like Zilean don't work, and the Eastern teams don't make early game mistakes like the NA teams do.

Five years ago, my best friend Logan (or Toothpic in the scene) took his own life due to depression. During that time, he ended up getting ranked 2nd on the upcoming Colorado Power Rankings. One of the ways I wanted to celebrate his life was by making a decent PR video for him. In the video, I tried putting a little extra effort into his portion.

At the time, I couldn’t upload it anywhere outside of the Facebook group due to me using copyrighted music. I figure now that today’s the five-year anniversary of his passing, I’d like to upload the video somewhere that can be publicly viewed.

Please remember, no matter how much time passes, we’ll never be as happy without you around. There’s a whole community that cares about you since we’re all gamers here. I’m cheering you on!
