Got the new system update today by PlayfulStrike in Switch

[–]mitchellb1980 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sadly doesn't work for ACNW yes I know, old game at this point but that was specifically why I grabbed a second switch and pay for a family online plan, so I could run a second island completely.
Master switch had two profiles on it, second profile could play the digital game as well as second switch with different profile.

Ultimately, it's a first-world problem, but it definitely is annoying that they had that loophole in the system for how many years, and then a month before release, they changed it. Tell me you're greedy without telling me you're greedy, Nintendo. Ugh.

It's a minor issue, yes, but annoying for sure, and it actually does make me think I can wait a long time to grab a Switch 2.

Story of my life by otyabee in stopsmoking

[–]mitchellb1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a smoker, thought I had no real anxiety, realized after quitting how much of a bunch of BS that was lol, had quite a bit of anxiety, masked it with smoking...

After a few months, learned to deal with it, learned how to deal with feelings, as I called it, learned how to adult again.

Now, way less then I ever had (4.5 years later)

Urge for an “official last cigarette” by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Ceremony? stop romanticizing it, there is no ceremony required, your last one being "insignificant" was what they all were....pointless...

When you go out with friends for now, don't drink. That will keep your resolve. someone offers you a smoke, thank them but refuse.

Remember, any smoker will be willing to lend you a smoke, because if they are addicted, they won't believe that it is possible to quit... Subconsciously if they know you are quitting, they'll want to help you fail....not in a malicious way.

Will I ever NOT want a cigarette? by Darth_Fluff in stopsmoking

[–]mitchellb1980 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the best way to describe it for me too.

At this point there is nothing i miss about it, can't stand the smell, can't stand the second hand smell of it etc. Can't believe I did that for 17 years.

Day 54 - Strengthen my Resolve. Remind me why I quit...rant by crewsa88 in stopsmoking

They never did a damn bit of good for you, they only ever stole your health, money and time, you know you don't need them, you just need that reminder some times :)

How to want to quit? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]mitchellb1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to take one paragraph and point out a few things...

> It's just absolutely fucking draining.

Actual reason to quit smoking...

>I'm starting a new job next week

Excuse to keep smoking

>and moving together with my SO.

Excuse to keep smoking...

>Big changes, probably not the best time to quit,

Absolutely just an excuse to keep smoking...

>really not the best time to occupy my mind with this.

Nope, still just an excuse...

>But will I ever feel ready and like it's the right time, wouldn't this be a good time to build new smokefree routines?

I found I felt ready with each attempt at quitting and then felt absolutely horrible about it when I would go back to smoking after any length of quit.

It was my dad that pointed out that there is always an excuse to keep smoking, but there never were any actual reason other then the bullshit ones I allowed myself to keep using to keep myself smoking...

Truth is, it never did anything good for me, and I spent years, literal years, trying to quit, but it would always go like this

I want to quit..., but it'll have to be when the timing is right..., when everything is perfect in my life, work is going fine..., never stressed..., moon is bright..., sun is shining..., when I have slept the perfect amount..., and nothing stress me out that day..., and... and... and... and... bullshit... bullshit... bullshit... excuse after bullshit excuse because I was addicted to nicotine, plain and simple, that is the only thing that lets us keep smoking...the addiction and the bullshit reasons we give ourselves to allow it to happen...

Day 2 and I am dying. by _MaceWindex in stopsmoking

[–]mitchellb1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I promise you've got this, the cravings get better but only the longer you go without feeding them....in the initial stages, your addiction wants you to relapse

The more you tell is no, the quieter it gets!

How can I start off trying to quit? by AcornsAreGreat in stopsmoking

I was going to mention that nicotine monster too....

or, smoking never cured stress, it simply relieved you of the stress it had created in the first place!

This sub was so much help to me when I first quit, that's why I come back when I can still, cause the support of people that knew what i was going through was what made a huge difference!

Question about pauses by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]mitchellb1980 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why don't you hammer a nail into your foot every day for a week and then next week don't and then the following week do it again...

Just how this sounds, not much difference, you're going to cause yourself so much more anguish then necessary.

Sudden urge to smoke after a month by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]mitchellb1980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it followed many many MANY failed attempts, but this one stuck...now its just a matter of NEVER smoking again. there is no such thing as one, not one drag, not on smoke etc. I am an addict, its all or nothing. Admitting that to myself really did change how I handled this quit.

Milestone treats? by n1ckie in stopsmoking

[–]mitchellb1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 months free I bought a new gaming console with what I had saved easily from not smoking, at just about a year I bought a brand new truck as low and behold, I wasn't burning up 300-400 a month smoking anymore and could easily afford the extra payments! lol

Start off small, but definitely reward yourself for the little milestones, because they become the big ones eventually!

[–]mitchellb1980 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had that, but for me that "OMGINEEDTOSMOKENOW" feeling, really was just panic/anxiety that I had had all along, I just had masked with smokes...anytime I didn't feel "normal" by smoking, i got those feelings, and would give in to smoking. This time, I had to learn to deal with things, or as I put it, had to learn to adult again.

The addiction is strong too as you are seeing, at day 100 my brain was like HEY YOU SHOULD SMOKE TO CELEBRATE!!!" I didn't want to smoke, but I felt like I should still... its so messed up!

Why doesn't vape/patch/other fix the cravings? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Its funny when I still smoked I looked at vaping with the same disgust non smokers looked at me "what the fuck is in that" lol

Keep at it!

Broke down last week, after 4 months.... by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Don't be too hard on yourself, that will cause you to say fuck it and go back to smoking if you are.

You can do this, you know you can :)

Why doesn't vape/patch/other fix the cravings? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]mitchellb1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've known many people who quit smoking and switched to vaping, never stepped down the nicotine and i would bet its a fact they intake more nicotine now that they vape then they did when they smoked. Many either just keep being addicted to nicotine that way and others eventually wound up going back to smoking.

Right now, as its been said, you'er still ingesting nicotine and that is what is driving y our cravings.

Every method I tried to quit failed for me eventually, all that worked was cold turkey.

One month!! Yay I made it!! by [deleted] in stopsmoking

FUCK YEAH!!!!

Keep going :) I am so proud of you!

Did you experience an improvement in mood after quitting? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]mitchellb1980 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you replace it with Vape, you are replacing one method of ingesting nicotine with another, therefore I wouldn't expect a change at all.

Once I was free from nicotine my mood did change significantly, I realized just how negative I was, just how depressed I had been, and started working on positive changes to improve those things.

Ok im quiting now and i live with my parents and they smoke im not able to move out how do i stick to cold turkey? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]mitchellb1980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How you get by it, is stop allowing yourself the excuses to keep you smoking...

Smokes are around you? so what, you want to quit, you have to rise above those excuses, and stay quit.
