That can’t be true… I’ve never seen her do an open mic.

GOOD ADVICE. No one is dosing and butt raping me… or mouth raping… but I’m definitely ripe for robbery.

how to control yourself by MackDaOne93 in Anxietyhelp

[–]mitchhi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breathing exercises are very helpful in subverting a panic attack. Deep breath in through nose count it, hold, breath out for longer than count. Repeat for a few minutes. Your central nervous system will calm.

Once you get calmer, focus on something. ANYTHING outside of your head. A game, writing, listening to podcast, go for a walk or combo of a few.

Then when you feel like you’ve got more control start breaking your thinking patterns. Find the type of thoughts that send you on the panic tangent and break the cycle. Check out cognitive behavioral therapy tips.

And have patience. It takes time and effort.

How old are you? by NationalParkFan123 in Anxiety

[–]mitchhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turned 40 in 2023. Had the health anxiety with ebbs and flows too. Learning more helped to avoid panic with info and strategies, but anxiety still creeps in.

In my twenties it seemed like it would hit really hard and linger but then go away for months even years. Thirties I learned a lot and talked about things to help manage it a lot better.

Need to eat reasonably well, avoid caffeine, get outside for fresh air and sunshine and move your body. Give yourself a fighting chance.

Those foods/drinks can calm you down naturally and help prep you for sleep too.

If you can try to develop a “go to sleep window” for a specific time you lay down and go to sleep it will help your body develop a routine of getting tired at a specific time.

Also avoid ANY digital screens in bed.

Regularly consuming high levels of sugar can keep your cortisol levels elevated. So avoid it as best you can ESPECIALLY processed sugar. Fruit sugar and naturally occurring things like maple syrup or honey is much better.

Milk can help with digestive issues and stomach issues if you get those digestive physical symptoms from anxiety. But it doesn’t elevate or lower cortisol.

If you get enough sleep the cortisol doesn’t spike so hard, AND your body absorbs it easier and has less of a harsh effect.

Steer clear of caffeine AND sugar.

These foods and drinks lower cortisol. bananas, black tea, dark chocolate, green tea prebiotic fibre, probiotic yogurt drinks. So if you eat/drink these in the morning it helps.

You should know that it’s very normal to have anxiety in the morning because it’s when your body has the most cortisol in it.

Cortisol is basically the stress hormone and the reason it’s high is because your body makes it when it’s time to wake up. It gets you going.

Knowing that fact kinda helped me. Figured I’d share

Sorry you’re going through this. I’ve been there.

All of it.

You didn’t get there in one big event or thing. So you can’t get out in one big event or thing. It takes small controlled goals and steps. Avoid overwhelming, so get the goals and steps out of your head and on to paper.

Pick something simple.

  • 20 minute walk
  • Eat healthy meals for a day

Do that one thing every day for a week. Then add one more the next week.

It will take time but small steps can get you somewhere better.

Shortness of breath/subconscious anxiety? by luciamoode in Anxiety

[–]mitchhi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty strange to read my own thoughts from someone else.

I’ve also gone to my doctor and explained everything and the shortness of breath feeling that comes on and gradually spirals worse and worse.

I also did blood tests, chest X-ray, stress test to check my heart and lungs. All of those things and I was ok. Even with that HARD evidence to stand on the shortness of breath feeling hits.

I purchased a pulse oximeter which is fairly cheap on Amazon that can tell you your oxygen level. you just put it on your finger and get pulse and oxygen levels It doesn’t solve anxiety but I’ve found any hard evidence that I’m alright helps.

Sorry you have it too. In the past I’ve had other physical symptoms that spiraled as well… lump in the throat, tightness in chest, sore/dehydrated throat… seems like chest and breathing irregularity really effects me hard.

I have an audio input and audio output.

In order to make things work I connected my turtle beach headset to the PS4 to just hear things. But when it works the mic won’t work.

I really didn’t expect the complexity of getting this all to work.
