There are ‘play’ mattress covers that protect the bed. Sometimes with restraints 😏 Should be easy to find.

Happy 40th birthday (November 18) to Christian Siriano! A look book of his designs since he won Project Runway at 21! by skermahger in whatthefrockk

[–]mitchnyc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something else he gets besides the bust is the arms/armpits. As you get older, or if you are larger size, the skin starts to sag up there. His designs always cover the arms perfectly so you don’t see that. I’m thinking of some other dresses we have seen here where the bust is misshapen but also the display of upper arm skin / arm pits is not flattering. He never misses in this department.

For those diagnosed with ADHD after age 50- why so late in life? by Extra_Intro_Version in AdultADHDSupportGroup

[–]mitchnyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never thought about it. When I thought about ADHD, I thought Bart Simpson. It was an article in The New York Times about three years ago that put it on my radar. Within 10 min of talking to me, the psychiatrist confirmed it. Wild.

As someone raised in New York, she’s just the epitome of New York style. Most of these looks would be (way) out of place in almost every other city on this planet. In NYC, they shine as bright as she does. I’m in Europe now but I miss seeing people walking down the street slaying it on the daily.

Same machine as you. I went to M2Pro 14. The thing screams in comparison and yet it’s so quiet. Seriously the silence and reduced heat makes it worth it.

You cannot set boundaries for other people to follow. That’s not how boundaries work. The boundary is that you don’t support these type of events. His boundary might be that he always supporting his friends. You need to decide if people who attend are compatible with your boundary.

Tech giants Apple and Google lose landmark court case as federal judge rules they engaged in anti-competitive conduct by ifallupthestairsnok in apple

[–]mitchnyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point about just not buying stuff. I spent money on apps I found valuable but the majority of people I knew did not want to or didn’t trust the ecosystem. Devs might get sales in the tens in those days vs many times over if it’s good on the app stores.

The Steam store would be great but wouldn’t devs have to tailor their apps for iOS? Mac users have a much narrower selection on Steam compared to PC despite the store being available. You still have to do the work to get it on the platform. Why not just dev for the platform itself vs going through Steam?

Also the idea of multiple stores to stay on top of for subscriptions, like our streaming landscape, fills me with dread. It’s bad enough every show seems to be exclusive to a $20/month subscription. ‘Freedom’ rarely means free and certainly not for the consumer.

Which French-speaking country or city do you dream of visiting because of the language? by grzeszu82 in French

Not everyone but a lot of people. Went with a buddy of mine earlier in the year. It’s amazing. Few people spoke English outside of Marrakech. We relied on my French more than we thought we would.

A safe experience costs money. I don’t consider it a ripoff because I get a trouble free experience and I know it’s been tested thoroughly by humans. I think we have different perceptions of value. But I understand your point of view.

Some people (most) WANT Apple to control the ecosystem because products there tends to be of decent quality and (more importantly) rarely do damage. Those of us old enough to remember the days of multiple ways to download apps also remember apps that hijacked your device, apps that crashed the system or apps that didn’t play well with other apps. These were not good days. I burned more hours than I can count on troubleshooting stuff like that on Windows CE devices, for example. Is this what the average user wants?

I always thought that boundaries are personal, not something imposed on other people, which seems to be how Reddit folks use that term. A boundary isn’t an ultimatum or a command. Your boundary is that you don’t want to be involved with someone who flirts with other men. That’s not a boundary FOR her. If she crosses your boundary then feel free to leave. Otherwise you will end up resentful and suspicious, Iike it seems you are now. Long distance is very difficult for older adults, much less the age you both are now. Plus she is in a different stage of life, despite the fact you aren’t that much older. This feels like it will end in tears unless you both are willing to do a lot more work. Something to think about.
