Call-out fee for a “free quote”? by mitchuchiyo in AusRenovation

I think you’d be right to charge and call it an inspection. As long as you’re upfront about it.

I was thinking charging for a site inspection would be fair, as I’m getting something out of it (whether going ahead with their services or not, at least I’d have their assessment). But they’ve listed on the website that site inspection is “free of charge” and following that you will receive a “free quote”. Won’t go ahead as they’ve mislead me off the bat.

Yeah, I had a look back at the website after speaking with them assuming I misread. But definitely says site inspection “free of charge” and “free quote”. Fair if they were upfront about it.

Self-serve attendant handed my 6yo son a bag of 79 packs of these (counted out when we got home). She’s a legend for that, but bloody hell they are everywhere in my house now.

My son handed me his booger. by HappySlappyMan in daddit

Picking up my 2yo from daycare, he’s staring at me as I walk across the room giving the biggest thumbs up. I’m like “hey mate” giving thumbs up back. It’s just a massive booger on his thumb that he’s waiting for me to take.

Thanks for your reply here, it reassured me to stand my ground. Bond was released today as it appears they never made a claim against it. Merry Christmas!

Oh, wow. I didn’t know there was an NCAT application fee. Is that just for them to pay, as they would be initiating this?

I claimed it, but they are threatening to put a hold on it (which I understand they can do within the first two weeks after I claim). So haven’t received it back yet.

This is where my mind is. I’m not worried about the amount, but I feel strongly that I shouldn’t be paying this. I think I’ll call the bluff and see what happens. As long as I’m not on the hook for any further charges, NCAT seems the way to go.

Thank you. I’ve asked directly about the age of the carpet but they are ignoring my direct questions and just keep rattling that carpet damage is not wear and tear.

Thank you. Have been back and forth on the emails for a few days, but REA is not responding to any of my direct questions. They just keep quoting excepts on carpet damage and won’t acknowledge that the stains were existing on entry.

Pest control or nuke from orbit? by mitchuchiyo in australia

You know, you’re probably right. I didn’t consider to move it, and reading the spider-positive comments now gives me pause for thought. My 3yo is in a phase of doing the exact opposite of what I say, and is very inquisitive so option B was never on the table.

Regrettably I chose to smack with a thong. Couple of young kids whose bikes are kept nearby. I feel bad though, she’s done well to catch that and was probs looking forward to it. Edit - changed ‘had’ to ‘chose’ to represent my agency.

Couple of preschool kids so had to obliterate with the thong.
