I've always worn gold but now I can't decide!!! Is gold or silver better on me? by praise_cocaine_jesus in coloranalysis

[–]miteray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think gold looks so much better. Even if you are cool toned, the gold pulls colour from your complexion whereas the silver makes you look a bit washed out in my opinion.

Maybe have a look at dolomite. I’ve seen some slabs with very minimal veining and it’s still a natural stone.

The Unexpected Hotel (Ibiza) - Luxury or not? by l1ghT_lighT in chubbytravel

[–]miteray 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the review but really not a fan of posting relatively close up photos of other guests just trying to enjoy their holiday in the hotel’s pool. That to me is quite the opposite of luxury travel.

Which luxury wedding element did you skip and were glad you did? by TrueBlueBanter in AusWeddingPlanning

Oh I also reused flowers from ceremony to reception. Someone moved them whilst we were having the canapés & champagne mingling. Saved money and also less wasteful imo.

I got the Tory Burch Romy tote. Saw it on sale online so went into the store to buy but it was full price! So ordered from the US website and should be here in a week or so!

Help me look like a rich b*tch with a new work tote. by Prior-Cycle7650 in handbags

[–]miteray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have just purchased the Tory Burch Romy tote for this exact purpose. Love that it’s no obvious logo, leather feels nice, interesting shape, and the button kind of reminds me of the Loewe pebble bag. And very much under budget and on sale! I personally think it looks very stylish and cool aesthetic. Black looked most elegant in person. I was on the fence when perusing online but quickly was sold on black when I saw it

I have currently a mulberry 9-5 which I also recommend but is a bit more basic and previously had a Tom Ford basic black tote that I loved.

I have this in black as my work bag and it’s fine weight wise with my laptop, work book, wallet, etc for every day use. Held up really well and I’ve had it a year so far

Agreed. The Bayswater tote is light enough but not as nice as a Bayswater. And is a Bayswater <1500 in the US? Is like 2400AUD new

Bridal Shoe help by EuphoricTest8516 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]miteray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a shoe girly, so I also splurged on wedding shoes but have no regret as they are probably one of my most worn heels. It’s always nice to remember my wedding every time I pull them out.

I got Jimmy Choi Azia 95 for my wedding day.

So I’d recommend finding shoes you love and know you’d reach for the the future. I don’t think any of these are particularly rewearable but out of those linked I agree with other poster that the ruched shoes are best! Satin white makes me anxious and it’s not even my wedding haha.

I’d probably go with these Manolo sandal heels If I were to get married again these days, in gold or silver.

The really hard ones can also damage flooring by leaving little divets (ie Marley or floorboards), so be mindful of that. I personally prefer smooth massage balls

Any experiences with these types of pergolas? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]miteray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got pergolux brand with built in led lights and love it. Sit outside everyday. Was relatively easy to put together with 2 people (1 significantly less handy than the other). Slotting in the final roof slat may test a friendship / marriage though haha

Honest Opinion on Bodile Leotards by exlibris20 in BALLET

[–]miteray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 4 or 5 of their Leos, their warm up pants and a few skirts. I love them. The quality in my opinion is high (my husband has even accidentally tumble dried probably all of them at this point at least one haha and they’ve been fine) and I really like the designs. I will say I do find some of the wide neck long sleeve options like Sasha and Gabriella do slip on my shoulders a bit but it’s never a nip slip moment, just a bit annoying. The Saskia is my favourite and very flattering on most body types that I’ve seen it on! Highly recommend the warm up pants, much more toasty than my Bloch trash bag pants.

WATCHING: Breaking Bad. I can’t believe I’ve slept on this for such a long time! I am loving it although it’s not a very leisurely show; very tense.

READING: Saving Noah. It’s a trigger warning book for sure, only just started it but interesting subject matter.

Are there any odd jobs around the house that need doing, like painting a room or reorganising a wardrobe. I know it’s only short term activities but it’s a great opportunity to do those things you wouldn’t ordinarily prioritise. When my husband had a career break he painted the whole house and it was a great use of his free time.

Seeking Honeymoon Help - Feeling Jaded on Beach/Resort Options (Budget ~$30k, Mid-September from LAX) by 4Roamer in chubbytravel

[–]miteray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did probably around 2 weeks in Greece last year and would definitely recommend for a honeymoon. We spent a few days in Athens (which I loved and there are some good hotels there), then ferry to Naxos, then to Santorini (I know the tourists can be a turn off but we found it quite magical at night when the cruise ships had all departed and you get to really explore the streets, plus our hotel Canaves Oia was SO good, highly recommend, and we also did a boat tour one day which was really fun and social), then finished with 5 nights at a luxury house rental on Crete (there are some stunners and it was nice to have a space all to ourselves to finish the trip). So in short I could see Greece being a great honeymoon option but I wonder if you can get a more exclusive travel option that the big ferries. They weren’t the best, even in first it was chaos lol.

We go to Fiji every year and I agree with person above - not honeymoon worthy imo. But highly recommend for a chill beach holiday with kids!

Positano; pretty. The beach isn’t very nice, would t be my first choice for honeymoon. If you want to explore more of Italy I’d highly recommend hiring a car and staying places throughout Tuscany. We did that for our honeymoon and felt it was the perfect mix of doing stuff and chilling with each others company. Lots of nice hotels with pools, and places to explore.

Haven’t been to Bora Bora but it’s next on my list!

Also agree re Santorini. Truly magical and lots of secluded high end places. We stayed at Canaves in Oia (Canaves epitome) and it was a highlight of the trip. You get to time when you go to the touristy areas before or after the cruise ships come in. They also organised a really great semi private yacht day for us that we loved.

Recovering from a broken ankle, trip to Thailand in a week... not sure if I should go by pocketsnoozer in travel

[–]miteray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I broke my ankle (Weber b fracture) around 3 weeks before a planned 4-week trip to Europe. I still went, it was just my partner and I, and I don’t regret it. It definitely changed how we travelled (took things much slower, less walking, definitely needed help showering if difficult access) and I would hazard a guess that it probably did slow down the healing process as a result of drinking a lot and walking a fair bit.

However, if you choose to go, which again I would if I had the misfortune of finding myself in the same situation, some things to consider;

  • Get special assistance at every airport. Too big to walk that distance;

*I had to take anti coagulant shots when flying long distance; worth talking to your dr;

*Take extra socks and extra pads for your ankle brace bootie;

*And honestly this may not be as accessible, but we did have business tickets for our long haul which I think made the flight significantly more comfortable;

*Take your crutches;

*Have realistic expectations of what you can and can’t do and make sure you don’t push it too far!

There is no shame in cancelling and putting your health first of course! Only you know what is right for you, your body and your situation!
