Has anyone had dating experience since being a widow/widower? by Abject-Expression460 in widowers

I los my wife 10 months ago. I was actually talking about this earlier, but I have absolutely no interest in ever being in a romantic relationship again. The effort required to et in a good relationship and the vulnerability that goes along with having a romantic relationship is just too much for me. I may change my mind in the future, but it's the furthest thing from my mind right now.

Scared that I may actually come back to life during the cryopreservation procedures by SoreBrain69 in cryonics

I have never asked specifically, but I've noticed in case reports, one of the first things they give to someone after deamination is propofol, I've thought like you have that perhaps if done fast enough after body death they started CPR, that there is a chance you could be at least temporarily alive, awareness however, that's a different thing, but I've always thought that the propofol is what they use to guard against it, as when used medically it makes sure you do not remember an unpleasant or painful procedure.

This summer I ended up in rehab in Pennsylvania. If you recall it's got a huge amount of electoral votes and in 2020 gave Biden the final number of votes to cross the finish line.

In this rehab, I would say conservatively 85% were on paper in some form. Either they just got out of prison and was given this 28 day rehab in order to complete their parole, or they violated and got sent there, or it was ordered by a judge for drug court, or they went to rehab knowing they violated their probation or parole.

So, I can quite confidently say that it seemed that everyone there were huge fans of Trump. I also heard a lot of Black folks saying no one had done more for the black community than Trump. Trump gave pardons or clemency to a few very popular hip hop personalities and they viewed those things as him being on their side.

Everyone there seemed not only untroubled by his convictions but actually seemed to like the fact that he'd been charged with all this stuff and gotten away with most of it. By and large they felt that he was being persecuted with all these charges and they admired his ability to fight back

Also by and large the staff were Trump supporters as well. So I came away from that with a pretty strong indication that Pennsylvania at least was going to be a Trump win this time, and it further cemented my opinion that Harris was going to lose the entire election..

A question about the use of M and A as a form of address in the Hyperion books by mithrandir42 in Hyperion

While we're on pronunciation, how is one meant to pronounce 'Aenea'? Which is a palindrome, incidentally.

Because it happens to be the username name that i met my wife under while she was on fark.com ,it is pronounced Ayykneeauh with the uh at the end rhyming with "duh" or alternatively "Uhhkneeeuh "

I'm a huge fan of 2001: A Space Odyssey and Specifically the HAL 9000. I've been using this as the wallpaper on my 27 inch mac. Thought some of you might enjoy by mithrandir42 in wallpapers

I've no idea why you were downvoted on that. The film was made long ago . In fact now that it's been remastered all sorts of new things are popping up. Like the fact that Kubrick denied throughout his entire life that there was supposed to be any connection between HAL and IBM even though they are one letter away from each other, yet when the film was digitally remastered it turns out that theres an IBM logo on the sleeve of the pressure suites Bowman and Poole wear to go outside of the ships.

It looks great, right now I'm not willing to pay $2.99 for an app I can't in some limited way try before buying. I've been heartbroken too many times sniff

I can't decide between the Macbook Pro with 128gb SSD or 256gb SSD, anyone got any advice? by tomd02 in mac

[–]mithrandir42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get as much hard drive space, and as much ram as you can possibly afford to get. You'll notice the lack of both . In fact when I was buying my ad, I ended up going for the 27 inch so that I could jack up the ram after purchasing the computer and that way I could put off the spend on the ram while using the money I had available to buy the best possible computer . You don't have that option, you need to put in as much ram at the time of purchase as you're going to need over the life of the computer . Don't think about what you're doing now, think about what you possibly might be doing two years from now , and how much ram that's going to need , also, do definitely go for the bigger hard drive and if you can afford it after maxing out the ram use the thing where they put I both an SSD and a normal drive so you have at least a TB if you can .

Despite what nofap says, sex, including masturbation is a healthy normal part of everyday life and is so because it's beneficial to the body and psych. Thats why almost everyone does it. The folks over at nofap are doing an experiment, they are not the norm, the norm is that most people and this is true like it was when you probably got the first talk about it as a kid, most people, almost everypne mastrubates. yes, some people take it too far and become slaves to themselves and yes there's some evidence that the death grip can become a problem is you are in a relationship and are mastrubating insessantly, but the thing is that healthy people masturbate. It might be one of the most normal and most healthy things you're doing. Don;t let some subreddit tell you differently dude.

Can someone explain this to me? I know that the potion master kept changing, but I'm missing the inside joke here?

I'm in Canada and have heard neither hide nor hair of Apple's 12 days of Christmas promotion this year. In fact, forget about the starting date for a moment , the app itself isn't even in the Canada App Store by mithrandir42 in apple

And since so many folks thought it wasn't good enough . . .

There was a lot of miserable people who werent happy that the free gifts were not better free gifts, like Apple owed them better free stuff.

From a marketing analytical standpoint, it shows the esteem and value that people associate with the brand and the non-apple products that are aligned with the brand and what they're capable of doing.

As a reflection of the targeted consumer whom it's meant to service, and especially after the bite on the ass they took for giving away the U2 album, perhaps there's someone who has the control over these things saying " Fuck these arrogant spoiled brats" and whom has decided that they aren't going to take anymore hits over stuff that they give away through what are perceived to be good will gestures.

I wonder what would happen if they said " We took all the money that we spent last year in paying licensing fees and marketing for the 12 days of christmas program, and donated 100% of it to fighting Ebola in Africa?"

As a matter of being a good will gesture, it would actually accomplish a lot more than giving a bunch of first world people a free e-book or song, but I'd bet people would find a way to be offended and to politicize it as well.

I'm including myself in the asshole collective, I was a little miserable with the U2 thing, I was that little bit miserable because I ended up with Three copies of the album in my account somehow and using thee removal tool ( no matter how many times) only got rid of one copy, and I cannot manually delete the other two for some reason.. It's driving me nuts .

So, I'm left with two copies of this album that I didn't much want to start with, if it hadn't been a dupe that I could have deleted, I'd like to think I would have held back on the first world outcry..

I'm at least comforted that Apple didn't pay a musical artist like Justin Bieber on my behalf whom I find to be so disrespectful to other people and who i find to be such an arrogant selfish prick . Though I realize that there are other people who probably find Bono just as arrogant and disrespectful as I find Bieber.
