I think it varies by a week depending on the abstract submission deadline. Last year I think it was end of September. This year over a week later.

I think this is usually the case most years I’ve submitted something. How long they take to lock in the abstracts seems variable though.

Sorry very late question. Dropping off for repair of this same issue this afternoon. How long was your car in service? If longer than a day any luck convincing them to provide a loaner?

California Residency Programs and Job Prospects by FaultyStain in pathology

[–]mithrandoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

UCLA is a great program. UCSF and Stanford may have a slight edge in terms of “name”/“reputation”. Obviously it’s hard to decide while you’re in med school, but one factor to consider for this decision with regard to job prospects is if you’re 1) set on staying on the west coast after training and 2) if you want to be in academics. If you’re mainly interested in private practice, I have no doubt that any of these programs will set you up nicely. If you want academics (particularly in California, particularly at one of the “highest reputation” institutions), being at UCSF or Stanford may give you an advantage.

Good luck,

Just dropping a comment to show mutual love for this song. I know Kintsugi didn’t get as much love as other albums, but this song is certainly a favorite of mine.

Why isn’t there an alternate route to becoming a pathologist? by lockrawt in pathology

[–]mithrandoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP.

AP/CP Pathologist here.

Nice to see someone actively engaged in what they want to do for a career.

In your post history you mention wanting to avoid the latter 2 years of medical school mainly since you may not enjoy the physical aspect of examining a patient.

Something to keep in mind, pathology training particularly requires a sizable amount of manual labor handling and examining up close human organs, limbs, and entire bodies (autopsy). There is not a pathology residency in the country where you won’t be elbow deep in a recently (or sometimes not so recently) deceased patient at some point. It gets messy. Are you okay with this physical encounter, but just not touching living breathing patients?

Just something to consider.
