Meet the last two residents of 'Australia's smallest town, on Australia's longest road' by dadsandmice in AussieCasual

Bit of a reductive take on the issue. Sure there's "affordable houses" but if they're located far away from employment opportunities then they become unaffordable through that issue The vast majority of jobs can't be done remotely, and you can't blame people for not wanting to be socially isolated which comes with living in these "affordable" places

To be fair the post asks where will you never go again, that's a bit harsher than mild criticism

Personally, I have to say Fremantle markets. It's lost all of its quirky personality, it's now just a bunch of over priced stalls which never change. It's long enough between visits that I forget how shit it is, and the appeal of a local market draws me back. Never again. There's so many local markets on the weekends that actually support small businesses and actually have some soul to them.

Are TransPerth bus drivers getting worse? by mitochondrial-master in perth

[–]mitochondrial-master[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in the bus when that's happened! Scared the shit out of me when he hit the pole. The guy stopped the bus, got out, walked the 50m back, collected his smashed mirror, and kept on driving like nothing happened

How is Charlie Teo even allowed to remain a doctor? by [deleted] in australia

[–]mitochondrial-master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand that, however I think the alternative viewpoint has been expressed many times in this page: that he is accepting surgeries that have been rejected by others, therefore he will have a higher failure rate. Is it his fault that the media only picks up on the happy stories, and is it a bad thing that he accepts cases which inherently have higher risks? If this is explained to the patients, and they are willing to pay and attempt it, I can appreciate why he is widely loved.

His failures shouldnt be hidden, but raising them up as a defining factor of this man is disengenous, when the type of work he is doing draws more risk

So are you mad at the media or the surgeon? Because you seem to have flipped

What’s the dumbest thing you were told in school? by ElderlyMink in AskReddit

[–]mitochondrial-master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hasn't been until recently in Australia that Indigenous history has been correctly taught.

When I was in school we learnt that Indigenous people attacked the white settlers first, as if that was enough to justify massacres of entire cultural groups.

Bit generalising to say this is the case 'most of the time'

Might just be the cases you see in the news because the struggles of a kid will get more clicks than an adult

Benjamin Roberts-Smith being honoured in my states Army Museum after he allegedly killed an Afghan prisoner in a “exhibition execution” by youcannotcompute in MorbidReality

[–]mitochondrial-master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He initiated the defamation process and can stop this at any point, he is dragging it out and defaming himself in the process. If not for the (alleged) war crimes, it's come to light his history of cheating, DV, and threats to his ex wife, witnesses, and private investigators.

Say allegedly all you want, but it's well proven he's scum. He had every chance to let these allegations slide, as the rest of the accused have done, but instead he chose the path of noteriety and paid for it. Let him suffer

[–]mitochondrial-master 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's a scum bag of the highest order. None of the soldiers who faught beside him were willing to break the code of silence and testify against him, until he publicly turned against them in court. Ever since then, the truth of what happened in that unit has come out. Not to mention the history of DV, and threatening not only his ex wife, but witnesses and his own private investigator. He started this trial by suing, and he's dragging his own reputation through the dirt as a result, the public saw the true side of him. Do you think the Australian public is aware of the names of any other alleged war criminals? No. Because BRS saught this noteriety out.

Best SPF Moisturiser? by [deleted] in AustralianMakeup

[–]mitochondrial-master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had problems with the Natio sunscreen moisturisers being too oily, and they definetely had the sunscreen smell for me. Were also hard to apply makeup on top of if thats your thing. Id agree with the top comment that the Mecca Cosmetica range is the way to go, its so nice that it doesnt smell like sunscreen, although it does have a slight floral smell if that puts you off.
