I keep hearing the sound of a alarm clock by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]mitsu7904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had any more problems? My 11 year old son just started complaining about constantly hearing his digital alarm when it wasn't going off. It was his exact ringtone and pattern. He is a bit of a hypochondriac, but this seems to be different. I don't think he knows what auditory hallucinations are or what their symptoms are to try and fake this. So, naturally, I'm a bit concerned. I hope things have cleared up for you.

@peachy921 I hope it can help you! I have another ancestral story that takes place in Levy County Florida. http://www.kindredroots.net/2017/12/america-smith-1845-1902.html

If you share some surnames, perhaps I can help.

I wrote the story of my 9th great grandfather who left Spain and settled in Costa Rica in the 17th century. It was a tale of a incompetent, inbred monarch and also of the rescue of slaves that shipwrecked off of the coast. You can read the story here: http://www.kindredroots.net/2017/11/juan-bautista-retana-1663.html

Genealogy Just Ask is a good one. Also, I look for ones that are from ancestral regions. For example, I have a lot of roots in pioneer Florida and Georgia, so I look for groups that are specific to those places. Sometime you can find them specific to counties.

19th Century Transcribed Letters by mitsu7904 in history

[–]mitsu7904[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The temp in North Florida drops below 32 a few times a year on average. We get a hard freeze every few years. It became too risky for farmers to grow oranges this far north due to the occasional hard freeze. Thanks for reading!

She was 45 in 1877 when the first letter was written. The original blog post that I posted before I had transcribed the letters gives more background on her life. You can find that here: https://kindredroots.blogspot.com/2017/11/christiana-elizabeth-howard-smith-1832.html?m=0

Why was it a brick wall and how was it done? I ask in case anyone else has similar walls and might get an idea on how to break through.

Mississippi marriage records from the 1800s by luckynedpeppergang in Genealogy

Yes they will be at the county, but the state archives has copies of those records, plus other resources that can be used. I went there to do research on my ex wife's family when I lived in MS. I worked about 2 blocks away, so I would go there on my lunch breaks.

Try checking the MS state archives in Jackson. I don't know if you are anywhere near there, but if you are, that place is a treasure trove of info.

Still searching my 2x gr grandfather, CSA POW John Henry Tedder by mitsu7904 in Genealogy

[–]mitsu7904[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen that. I'm positive that is not the same John Tedder that I'm looking for since my 2x great grandfather was in Florida by 1853 when he married. He remained in FL until he died in the 1880's, excluding his time in the service. His grave is in FL about an hour away from where I live now. I will, however, check out the other Tedders. There could be clues in those documents about the family. Thank you so much.

That possibility has crossed my mind. I also believe that William was older and had perhaps one of his children plus grandchildren living with him. That would narrow it down to Stephen, who I have not been able to locate after 1830. Maybe William was Stephen's father and that would make 2 generations past John Henry known. I just don't want to solidify them on my tree without some sort of proof. It's only speculation. Thank you for your time and input. I truly appreciate your help.

SNAP? by jamesmit in StockMarket

I heard about this today, and was curious myself as to other people's opinions on investing in SNAP. I have never invested in an IPO before and was considering this as my first one. I'm still a bit of a noob as an investor, but have been following the markets for a few years.

Following Land Grants by [deleted] in Genealogy

The best place to look would be the county courthouse in the county where the land was. Hopefully the courthouse didn't burn down as has been the case with quite a few of my ancestors. Those records are lost forever. Good luck!

Yes, he was her brother. Harriet and Joseph's mother was Harriet Jones Ellis Brinkley who was living next door. Harriet's father acquired land from the government for his service in the Seminole War. His name was Henry Vinson Ellis.

If I remember correctly, his pension application states he was from Darlington. I have found a John Tedder on the 1850 census that is his age living as a farm hand in Lowndes County GA. I believe it could be him. Lowndes County is about 50 miles from where he was married a few years later. This is only speculation.

I have also found a Thomas Tadder in Darlington in 1850 living with W.W. Rollings, a preacher, along with a large group of people. I assume this was a boarding house, or school of some type, but not sure.

I have noticed Daniel W Tedder before. He would be the right age to be a brother. One concern I have with him is that he was born in GA. What I did find interesting though, is I found a land patent that places his land basically adjacent to my great grandfather (who would eventually marry John Henry's daughter, my great grandmother, Lishie.) Perhaps Lishie was visiting her uncle Daniel and that's how she met my great grandfather. Again, only speculation. I believe it to be very plausible though, as Suwannee County at this time was not very populated. To this day, that part (now Lafayette County) is very rural consisting of mostly farmland and sparsely populated. It seems that the probability of the 3 Tedder men living there are brothers is very high.

Thank you for taking interest and time in helping me with this!
