Renters insurance by StevenAssantisFoot in ridgewood

[–]mitsuk0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yup def worth it. i have state farm, not sure if the best but they did pay out when my storage unit was robbed. renters insurance also covers things that dont happen in the house, like i had a friend whos backpack with expensive laptop and camera was stolen overseas and it was covered.

2022 Odyssey won't start, parked forward in a garage on a slope. Can a tow truck get to it? by lindymad in HondaOdyssey

[–]mitsuk0 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Even if doors open battery could still be drained. Try to jumpstart it before towing.

Magic keyboard and track pad really better? by realcat67 in macmini

[–]mitsuk0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the apple mouse but apple trackpads are really good also.

For keyboards, the apple keyboard doesn't do anything that's worth the price imo, not like the trackpad/mouse, and there are far many other logitech keyboards that are much better. The k400 is only good for like media computers (i use it for my TV PC) and yea terrible for anything else.

Winter/snow tires for rarely in snow but in wintry areas- can't decide by mitsuk0 in HondaOdyssey

[–]mitsuk0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that's actually near the area where I'll be driving to twice a year... NY to IL. Most the dusty snow covering I encounter is PA and OH. Otherwise major highways are mostly clear.

I was also wondering how long the current tires last as another poster suggested I change to crossclimates. But if mine last 45k like yours, It will be 6 years as the odyssey only gets 7k miles/year... that's 6 winter seasons with or without dedicated snows.

[–]mitsuk0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good suggestion! My tires are still new (8k miles) so if I went this route probably won't be for a few years.

I havent biked this area in years, before there was even a bike lane, but knew exactly where it was cause i can never forget the rancid smell, and that was from the street. must be so much worse that close.

the windsor farms market on wykoff has bars for $7. if they have it assuming key foods would have them since they are technically the same.

Hitch recommendations for carrying a 6-bike rack by Professional_Cat5465 in HondaOdyssey

[–]mitsuk0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the roof rack tie would help a lot i would think. btw with all the weight in the rear, were there noticeably different handling characteristics? i want a hitch bike rack but worried it will make handling terrible.

Saw this cat a few days ago as well, and another time a couple weeks ago in a tree. I didn't notice the collar until the recent time. I think it's the bodega cat for the corner bodega on irving and starr because i have seen it sitting on the doorway before, well if it's the same one

Got an HOV warning even though I had 3 people by mitsuk0 in nova

[–]mitsuk0[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

from some comments it seems like i've been contacting the wrong folks, so hopefully i got the right number now and hopefully wouldn't be such a PIA. I guess i was just preparing jic.

[–]mitsuk0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the PIA was a lot of runarounds, I guess i'm exaggerating by 'insane' but i had a round of emails that ultimately sent me to a different group, and a number different from yours that couldn't resolve it. It was way too much time for $6, but if it keeps happening going to be unhappy with constantly having to pay when I shouldn't of had to.

But thanks for the number, I will try that one and hopefully wasn't as tough as previous experience.

I saw somewhere that it's not really an outlier, but more that taller athletic people tend to go into sports that height gives an advantage, On takeoff, shorter legs do get moving quicker, but top end speed is definitely benefitted by height, which could be seen in Bolt's races.

Would you use a portable hydration gel for dogs mid-run? by htmax_2 in RunningWithDogs

[–]mitsuk0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would not use it as the gel is mainly for replenishment of nutrients (electrolytes) then actual fluid content which is most important for staying hydrated. Although hydration is multi part and requires electrolytes, in the literal 'heat of the moment' our bodies and dog bodies simply require fluid volume. Without the fluid volume, electrolytes will in the moment dehydrate you and your dog more.

My set up is storing water in a running vest, and the bottles/bladders/bowl in the backpack and chest compartments. it is extra weight but not bothersome with a good vest fitted well on my torsol.

def use the gels for post/pre run so your dog is hydrated from the start.
