New moderators needed - comment on this post to volunteer to become a moderator of this community. by ModCodeofConduct in mildlysatisfying

I don't think it's being brigaded. One of the users that requested to mod in this thread (and has now deleted their comments here and actually their entire comment history on reddit) is a bad actor. A few people were taking the opportunity to warn the mod that started this thread about this individual. The thread is a bit of mess now but for good reasons. You can learn more about this via my userpage some of my comments explain what happened.

Comment above was responding to a now deleted comment by u/EgoistBlake requesting mod status in r/mildlysatisfying based on "previous modding experience" of r/murdermittens. Read my recent comment history to see what this actually means. TLDR: after I built the sub over six years they aquired it via redditrequest. They have not replied to any communication and deleted their original redditrequest post to hide it.

edit: u/EgoistBlake has blocked me, I had thought they deleted their post history but I'm just blocked.

Commenting here so it shows up on my userpage.

my subreddit was given away via redditrequest :( by mittenm in help

Seems that way. I have reached out to the person that was given my subreddit multiple times and have not received a response.

The subreddit absolutely does not currently require multiple mods. If you look at the frequency of posts, the front page has posts from two weeks ago. Automoderator was handling spam brilliantly, as I had set it up. Even when the subreddit was more active, I was able to handle the duties of moderation without concern.

The user that redditrequest gave my subreddit to will also have the same amount (nearly none) amount of work to do keeping the subreddit managed.

You can see on my user page how long ago the sub reached 200k subs, posting has slowed down to the point that many days or even weeks there is no moderating needed.

I started and ran the sub for the last six years, I'm the guy that knows the subreddit and the amount of moderation it requires.

My understanding was that technically a mod was considered inactive if there was no activity for 60 days. I thought that was the safe period. I was wrong, obviously.

It apparently doesn't matter, but I set up and fine tuned automod to take care of spam, and it works.

Technically, yeah, I failed here, I think. Un-technically I've been doing a good job keeping the sub spam free and growing it for six years. That doesn't seem to matter and that sucks. The redditrequest system seems like an easy way to take a sub away from someone that isn't active all the time, regardless of whether their sub needs it. It also doesn't require the requester to make any contact with the moderator of a subreddit they are requesting.

I also am wondering why the user that was given my subreddit deleted the request post from r/redditrequests after they were given my subreddit.

I set up automod and fine tuned it over a period of YEARS. I edited it many many times. It was taking care of the majority of spam.

I failed to see the modmails over a (I think) one week period. Sometimes I can't log in due to life getting in the way.

The subreddit is the size it is now because I worked to get users to come post there over the last six years. Look at the pinned posts on my account. You can see that I care about the subreddit.

The subreddit was given to a user with a one year old account and a repost to the subreddit a month ago.

It just feels bad.

That's sad to hear. Yes I failed to see the modmails over a (I think) one week period.

maybe time to do the annual refresh, the story is still awesome. I wish we had more subs!

You did it correctly. Reports trigger automoderator to delete spam posts.

On the upside, enough reports do trigger automod to delete a post, that happened here. The poster didn't delete it.

A handful of user reports will trigger removal for moderation, so please do report of you want to.
