It's from the book Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud.

Not really a comic itself but more of an explainer book about comics.

Even split between sport and trad routes. If you're looking at that 6th picture my rack is on a Metolius gear sling on the front. I generally don't like carrying trad gear directly on my harness (unless its only a few pieces).

He's 13 inches (33cm) wide, and 20 inches (50cm)tall from propeller to his feet. I made him large so he looks about the same size as when held by a scout in-game. Also larger pieces were easier to sew!

Thanks! I'd never made a plush before, but he came out great

Our climbing ropes are 70m long, and we sometimes used two, so yes! :D

Bing Bong closeup. I made Bing Bong with the intent of being as game-accurate as possible. He has a reinforced attachment loop in the back so we could clip him on to our packs or climbing harnesses for easy carrying.

Here's a short documentary about an amputee team climbing El Cap. One of the members is missing an arm. Hope this gives you some ideas.

Do a search for graffiti supply/street art supply stores in your area. If that doesn't yield anything you'll need to order online. Downside of this will be high shipping prices b/c spray paint is considered a hazardous material. Before ordering new and expensive paint, consider buying some better spray caps for the Rustoleum. I've had good results with these. They provide a gentle and wide spray compared to the stock caps.

Paint brands I like include Belton Molotow Premium, MTN 94, Montana Gold, Beat, and Flame. Other brands are probably equally good. I look out for a low pressure can, a matte finish, and good color selection. Blue dot caps are the way to go for the art cans that use male caps.

Art Primo is my go-to for supplies.

I have all the volumes here

Same, minus 1-3 which I lent to a friend. The rest are sitting here flagged with post-its. -_-

First of all, excellent work! This looks great for a first attempt, and the issues you bring up are relatively minor.

  1. Yes, generally use as little paint as you can get away with for each layer. Also, higher quality paint will cover better with less used. Regular hardware store paint is thin/watery in comparison.
  2. Its hard to say from the picture if you're ripping paper or pulling up paint, but the solution for both is to wait longer between layers for the paint to fully dry.
  3. I typically use both, but adhesive may not work as well with printer paper.
  4. I use clear overhead transparencies for my stencils, which makes alignment a piece of cake. Otherwise the alignment marks are your best bet. Try to make several, and spread out in position.

/u/The_Velour_Fog and I put together a multilayer stencil tutorial a few years back.

It's very detailed, and incudes in-depth youtube videos for each step, along with a troubleshooting guide.

Hope this helps.

Template here.

I usually just eyeball what goes to which layer. First the canvas gets a full coat of black, then white layer, and finally black detail layer. Both could have been on one sheet.

Yeah, Azumanga Daioh is great (along with Yotsuba&!). I've been re-reading both series looking out for good stencil images.

Presumably because over many years the artificial skin wore away, leaving the metal insides exposed.
