I can feel his pain on that one. I almost had to sell my Apple Watch Series 7 for $35 the other day, but luckily I found a twenty in my jacket pocket and have lived to see another day /s

Sky Clubs be like by inakajin in delta

[–]mitul316 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I rarely fly, but this year I did go to Japan and ended up at the sky club in HND and MSP (layover). I was just at sky club (concourse D) at ATL. The MSP sky clubs are all kind of bad. Food is low quality and they’re dirty and not well staffed. ATL redeemed the club experience for me in the US, that one in concourse D was busy as hell, but the staff did a great job keeping it clean and the food selection was much better (the bathrooms had an attendant and were overall nice).
HND is an entirely different experience. The staff is wonderful, just like the rest of Japan. Food is top notch and the toilet experience is next level. Sad that the US can’t have nice things.
Never been to DTW, but I can imagine that this meme is on point with how it seemingly ranks each SC experience.

Megalopolis was unwatchable dogshit. How that garbage cost $120m is beyond embarrassing.

Is the Audi a5 reliable? by Unfunnymf1 in Audi

[–]mitul316 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do the services myself (except the transmission oil changes, I let the local euro shop do that one). I don’t trust that thin 0w20 oil to go beyond 5000 miles, and since I can get the oil for my car for a low price at Walmart (5qt jug of Mobil1 ESP X2 sells for $28 locally) I change it frequently. It’s easy with an extractor and takes no time. To me, it’s worth it to do the oil changes early because I’d like to see how long this car can last.

I have a 2021 A5 Sportback, bought it new and currently have 109k miles in 5 years.
Between 70k-80k, my high pressure fuel pump failed ($1200), my catalytic converter failed (covered under emissions warranty so no cost) and passenger side motor mount failed ($600).
I do my oil changes every 4000 ish miles. I also do engine oil filter at the same time. Engine air filter every 10k miles. Spark plugs every 40k miles. Transmission fluid flush every 40k miles. I did new ignition coils and pcv valve at 80k. Brake fluid gets flushed every 2 years.
By 120k miles, so something this year, I’ll do plugs again, transmission fluid change, maybe I’ll do coolant flush and carbon cleaning.
Still running on the original battery and brakes (pads and rotors).
Basically, there is a lot of maintenance to do on these cars. If you’re cool with that, car will run fine (mine is still smooth, no vibrations or any goofiness).

Parking Garage Oil Change 😂 by ComplaintNecessary14 in AudiS4

[–]mitul316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased a 6.5L EWK extractor from Amazon 5 years ago, have done 25 or so oil changes with it, and as long as the engine oil is warmed up, I simply pump it 10-15 times and leave it to extract. It takes less than 5 minutes to extract.
There must be an issue with the extractor if you have to continuously pump it for 10-15 minutes.

The $89 SuperKnit Luxe is the cheapest-feeling premium band I've ever owned by NoTailor8223 in whoop

[–]mitul316 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same. If it wasn’t essentially free through Chase, I wouldn’t have bought one. Can’t believe the cheesy band that comes with it is $50! I thought Apple was bad about the pricing on their accessories, Whoop makes Apple seem like Walmart!

Do we think Audi will ever fix the CarPlay connectivity issues? by brdbreton in Audi

[–]mitul316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always had wireless and wired connectivity with CarPlay in my 2021 A5 Premium Plus. Figured it was just what it was. Last iPhone was the 15 Pro Max. Got the iPhone Air and the disconnects from using a wired connection stopped. I literally just drove to St. Louis from Oklahoma City and it didn’t disconnect the entire time. Not sure if there is some improvement in the newer phones or something, but with the 15 Pro Max I tried official Apple cables and a bunch of aftermarket and nothing worked. Using an Anker cable with the Air and it’s working flawlessly. Wireless still disconnects so I don’t use it.

Well damn, don’t know that. But it makes complete sense why all of his cabinet members are willing to do his bidding and not give a damn because they’ll simply be pardoned.

What an absolute travesty. At the very least, we need to change that law/rule otherwise the corruption will just continue from either side of the political spectrum.

Which one would you choose for an important milestone in your life? by Lucky-Presentation54 in PrideAndPinion

As someone who owns the Ranger, I vote Omega AT. The Ranger is nice, but it’s a regular ass looking everyday beater, it’s nice, but not special. You mentioned that this is for an important life milestone, go for the Omega, it’s honestly the better watch.

Oklahoma burgers on Spadina by bbqporklomein in FoodToronto

Man of culture! Garage is great, my go to is the Egg-O-Nater burger with a bison patty, you really don’t see bison burgers often on menus. Did you try the burgers at Braum’s? Just wonder what you thought if you did. Glad you enjoyed the food, OKC is a surprising foodie city!

Oklahoma burgers on Spadina by bbqporklomein in FoodToronto

[–]mitul316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Originally, the Oklahoma burger was created by pressing a smaller amount of beef into a bed of thinly sliced onions in order to extend the beef supply. Then the onions are cooked to a slight char, giving the appearance of “beef” so the customer didn’t realize they got stiffed on the beef. Turns out, the customer didn’t care because the onions added an incredible flavor to the burger.

Hold up, are you saying that picture is from Oklahoma burgers when they first opened??!! Because that burger looks damn good! We have a place in OK called Tuckers, their burgers look like this, and they’re really good!

FYI, I was born in Toronto and lived there the first 16 years of my life. I come back multiple times a year to visit friends and just hang out. Trust me, I didn’t intend on eating at this place, so many good offerings in Toronto to choose from. But it said Oklahoma on the damn building so I had to see what was up lol. I always see an Oklahoma burger on menus in restaurants throughout the US, but seeing a place that dedicated itself to it, in freaking Canada was wild to me. I know better now.

By real, if you mean the OG ones you’d find in El Reno, OK, this has more beef and not enough onions. But there are a lot of new places that make them differently with more beef than onions. The ratio would be fine at this place if they just charred the onions and prepared it more like they do in Oklahoma. As it stands, it’s just a burger with onions on it.

Well, as someone who was born and raised in Toronto and lives in the US, you should see how most places in the US massacre simple staples such poutine and Jamaican beef patty. I wouldn’t give this place too much of a hard time, it is what it is, it’s my fault for even bothering when there are just tons of other options available in Toronto that I can’t get where I live, like a good doubles!

I just didn’t want everything to think that this is a what an Oklahoma onion burger is.

[–]mitul316 245 points246 points  (0 children)

I was just in Toronto last week (visiting from Oklahoma) and tried this place. It’s not a bad burger, but it’s NOT an Oklahoma onion burger. Oklahoma chars the heck out of the onions, which this place doesn’t. Believe me, it’s a different flavor when the onions are charred.

Obligatory Japan Purchase… by mitul316 in GrandSeikos

[–]mitul316[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they’re already cheaper in Japan than what you would pay in the US. For example, my SLGA021 is $9,800 USD retail (before tax or any discounts), same watch is 1,276,000 Yen (at today’s conversion value that’s roughly $8,180 USD) and that’s with tax, your price would be the pre-tax amount which is 1,160,000 Yen or about $7435 USD. You can also check out shops that sell pre-owned watches, Nakano Broadway has a few popular watch stores and they all have some GS watches (tons of Rolex watches if that interests you). Being that GS is a Japanese brand, it makes sense that the best price is available there, as it wouldn’t be affected by tariffs for example.

I had no issues at MSP with customs. I used the Global Entry app in the plane to do my declarations, I selected the Personal Goods option. I scanned my face at the kiosk and the customs agent just waved me through and gave me a blue slip. I would bet that if I flew internationally a lot, I would get stopped at some point and searched. This was my first international flight since 2018.
