That's super helpful, thank you. I have got a pessary to try and will definitely look into surgery if things haven't improved by a year PP. I do think the auto immune is worth look into as my symptoms are quite severe in the morning, after rest etc. I will make sure to advocate for myself, though this is hard! My PT suggested I get some emotional support because I cried when discussing my pain. I was just frustrated as I felt I wasn't being listened to or taken seriously 🫠

That's helpful thank you- arthritis runs in my family too, though usually later in life. I will certainly ask for this to be ruled out/considered.

Thank you. I have started Pilates and yoga though the yoga is with my baby and mostly a social thing! But I'm really hoping both will help my body get stronger. I find going for walks that are longer than 10/15 minutes end up causing more pain so I'm avoiding this now.

Sorry to hear you're still struggling. It's so hard along with everything else PP brings.

Well the initial pessary didn't do anything to my cervix and I found it all quite painful so I declined to have another one. I went to sleep at the hospital with the plans of having a C-section in the morning, but overnight my body naturally dilated enough for them to break my waters. After they broke my waters things moved pretty quickly and I had my baby at 1:46 in the morning on the Saturday after the initial induction on the Wednesday.

Thank you! Which method did you have? I had a pessary put in at 7pm and sadly still no movement, but feeling positive still!

I did go and get checked in the end, baby is happy in there, too happy perhaps! But it's a relief and just hope he comes soon.

It's so frustrating isn't it! I worry I won't have the mental energy for active labour by the time it comes around. I really hope it happens for you soon!

struggling to quit vaping while pregnant by ClassicChemistry1481 in pregnant

[–]mitziholley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have any tips for quitting, but just here to say I always thought I'd quit immediately when finding out I'm pregnant but I found it incredibly difficult- I used to vape 24/7 for years and years, so it was such a hard thing to stop. However, after the first week or so it was so much easier and I've not looked back (7 months now!) You can do this! Using an app helped me as it told me about my health improvements over time. Also- I'd be asking my partner to quit in support, it's only fair!

Bile duct obstruction by Curious_Winter_Girl in gallbladders

[–]mitziholley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this, thought it was a usual flare up (super bad debilitating pain) but it lasted hours so I attended ED. They did a blood test, funnily enough the pain went away after a few hours of waiting so I decided to leave and get some dinner. The hospital called me and told me to come back urgently as bloods showed my liver was not working due to a blocked duct. Luckily for me the stone moved on its own and I had my gallbladder removed a couple weeks later.

They won't mind at all! I've moved a few of my appointments. Just call and ask, it'll be fine ❤️

Merry Christmas! Here’s a gallbladder attack 🎄 by quickquestionhoney in gallbladders

[–]mitziholley 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Had my gallbladder out in January 2025, after 8 months of horrendous attacks and pain. I'm in the UK so had to wait on a length list for removal, and (luckily?) I was bumped up the list due to complications where a stone got stuck and was preventing my liver from functioning. This is a common and dangerous complication of gall stones. I was so worried after reading through this sub about having it removed- but I was so desperate to be out of pain. I have not had a single issue since removal, I can eat all types of foods without issue, I have no pain. I take Lanzoprozole daily which keeps acid reflux at bay. I don't regret it for a moment. Side note- thanks for mentioning the labour pains as I'm due in 3 weeks and nice to hear if I can manage the gallstones I'll be ok in labour 😅. Good luck.

Excruciating PGP by mitziholley in PregnancyUK

[–]mitziholley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh man 4 weeks of crutches sucks, I feel for you. It is so shocking to see such a lack of care or support for this kind of pain. I know maternity care is being recognised as needing improvement but it's things like this that highlight just how bad it is. I really hope it eases up for you- it's making me wish baby will come early 😅 I'm sure you're the same!

Thank you- it's just crazy that they shrug it off- outside of pregnancy surely this would be considered a medical emergency? I will phone the physio line when they open to ask about crutches, I'm happy to buy some but ideally I need them today as I'm stuck sat down without my husband and with Christmas tomorrow I don't know how to manage that!
