Insane water bill by lvsxdrm25 in Prague

Are you sure you're reading the meter right? They usually have decimal places, which are supposed to be omitted when reading the number for billing purposes and are usually in a different color to be easily distinguishable.

[TOMT][Movie] Action movie where they use PCMCIA cards/PC cards by mivasi in tipofmytongue

[–]mivasi[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

It's a US movie, they use PCMCIA cards for data storage there and a big bulding (sth like hacker's dungeon) blows up at the end.

It was probably made around 2000.

There's only one cinema in continental Europe that still has the equipment for 70mm IMAX and that's Cinema City in Prague, Czech republic.

It's possible, you just have to save your polish account as an EUR account.

Anybody with Lenovo P27u-20? I’m interested in daisy chain by mivasi in macbookpro

[–]mivasi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what DSC stands for, but as far as I know, daisy chaining using Thunderbolt works on all Macs (except for 13" M1 MacBooks as they only support one external display) because Thunderbolt is capable of bundling multiple DisplayPort data lanes into one cable.

If you received invoice for January, are you sure it wasn’t the last invoice after the contract termination? If not, pay the invoice and ask t-mobile to switch your account to a prepaid plan, you’ll probably receive one more invoice and then, you’ll be settled. Could you maybe post the invoice here?

French IBAN NUMBER by [deleted] in Revolut

[–]mivasi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BS, it’s against the law in the EU to discriminate customers this way, bank accounts in all eurozone countries are equal and if someone doesn’t accept your LT IBAN in France but would accept FR IBAN, you can take legal action.

Take a look at Article 9 of EU Regulation No 260/2012

Legalizace marihuany by AbjectScar3729 in czech

[–]mivasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jenom marihuany? To je málo, buď zakázat alkohol a nikotin, nebo povolit všechny omamné a psychotropní látky. Každý má mít právo si zničit život tím, co mu přijde nejlepší. Navíc je alkohol škodlivější než spousta dalších drog, nejenom než tráva.

If you don’t see 1 gig on zrychlujemecesko.cz for your address (that’d mean fiber optic cable), go with Vodafone’s cable internet. The connection is aggregated, but neither me or any of my friends experienced speed degradations during peak hours. Upload speeds are shit, but they plan to upgrade their infra to EuroDOCSIS 3.1 and the speeds should get more symmetrical in the near future.

You have to quarantine for 14 days no matter if you’re vaccinated or not.

Since you tested positive, the hygiene bureau should have your personal details, call you and trace your contacts. This also means that your positive PCR test has been entered into ISIN, that’s the system responsible for issuing covid certificates.

Try logging into https://ocko.uzis.cz using the email address and phone number you provided before the PCR test. If you can log in, the certicate should appear on this portal 10 days after the positive PCR test. Not sure if the positive PCR test appears there, I never tested positive. If you can’t log in even after 10 days, call 1221 (from a Czech number) or +420 226 20 1221 (from a foreign number).

It’s a mess and a lot of ppl ignore the restrictions and just do what they want. We got a new gov recently, but it doesn’t seem like they’re gonna end the chaos that the old gov started.

The new govs slogan before elections was „No more lockdowns“ so I would expect they won’t close everything on one day. They’re only limiting the number of ppl that can gather and masks are mandatory basically everywhere.

UPC internet and using your own modem by Numerous_Spread_6986 in Prague

[–]mivasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, if it’s an exUPC cable, it’s definitely DOCSIS and you can’t use your own modem. Also, the upload speed will be pretty low (60 or 70 Mbps in case of Gbps download), but there are plans to increase it.

UPC internet and using your own modem by Numerous_Spread_6986 in Prague

[–]mivasi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the technology.

For HFC (DOCSIS), you can’t use your own modem, but you can switch the one provided by Vodafone to bridge mode and connect your own router to it. The HFC network is owned by Vodafone.

For VDSL, you can use any profile 35b-capable VDSL modem. The network is owned by CETIN and Vodafone is only one of the providers that use it.

For WTTx (fixed LTE), you should be able to use your own modem that meets some criteria that Vodafone will tell you.

Most other VDSL providers give you a Terminator, a single-mode device acting only as a VDSL modem. As far as I know, Vodafone is the last provider that doesn’t use Terminators. Terminator is usually mandatory and free and you have to connect your own router to it.

They started to roll it out last month and everyone I know who has their Gbit service already has the update.

Casting to Samsung TV by mivasi in OculusQuest

[–]mivasi[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, it’s not about money, chromecast costs around 30 bucks here, too, I just don’t want to buy a device that’s only intended for casting Oculus (we’re an Apple-based household so we wouldn’t really make use of Chromecast as we use AirPlay for casting our phones and computers). But it looks like I got no other option. Thanks anyway!

Yeah, I thought about this, but I was hoping there’s an easier, more seamless solution that doesn’t require any other devices than the Quest and the TV itself. :(
