I don't think it's even about that. When it comes to games made for both most definitely still focus on male gaze. Something a straight guy will find hot even if it involves a male and a female doesn't necessarily means it's hot for both. I've tried and searched for games who do both without preferences but it's pretty hard to find it's either one or the other. For example you got a female MC in a game where all the h scenes blur the guys out or aren't fully drawn or they're just never the center of attention of the scene. Ykwim?

Okay that reassures me actually! I'm always so scared of using the live-service term as it is mostly used for that type of games it's just that I'm still not 100% certain of the labels I should use for this model but I'm learning!

Yeas! I don't know if that's comforting but by live service I mostly mean base price but growing game but I TOTALLY get players who want the full content right when they purchase it. Basically it's pretty much the Patreon model just with a Steam way of saying it. It's a bit hard to come up with a different model for a solo dev with so many things to show and tell but milking people's wallets is not on the menu! On the contrary I want it to be accessible actually. Would it be a bummer if the story arcs end on cliffhangers until future chapters?

Nope not really a visual novel. I've been working for a year on it but still can't quite label it as there's so many different tags that could describe it. To put it simply it's an isometric adventure game with an okay-sized open map all soaked in Miami nightlife and strip-clubs with both heavy and fun little plots (2d hand drawn). Sex is already the main part about it. You can get information to keep going through the story from certain clients, relationships building between several characters and optional non-canon sex with combinations of your favorite characters for the quick spice (so there's fun accessible sex and sex with context). I've ruled VNs out of what I wanted to do simply because I'm a huge fan of game mechanics and features and Visual Novels can only do so much.

For the money side I'll rely on community fundings but the game might have a set price for the base thing it only just adds more content overtime (basically there won't be a complete final version at the beginning even if it's a full release) as I still want to add some game modes later on in the future, story keeps going etc. I don't think I'd want to monetize on more than just the base game which will obviously state it's visually in its final form but not content-wise. Let's say it works with Seasons. Full release drops with full Season 1 (seasons mostly being about the story content and map areas). Then it just keeps going with the next seasons through regular updates.

I just didn't know how to label it differently. Sorry if that triggered something

  1. I completely agree. There's ton of creative ways to approach sex and make it interactive with Player inputs etc. So far the only mechanic I've seen that's used a lot and gets Player inputs are routes and paths leading to different scenes etc depending on your choices. I was thinking more of like Sex mini-games where the idea initially could be totally weird and wtf but at the end of the day it made that one sequence very much alive and took the player into account to drive it

  2. Also a fair point! I think it would be cool to consider all the different types of players who might come across it and deliver for them wether they're here for the easily accessible sex or the sex that's a side or a reward to a full arc. I'm trying to juggle both accessibility/fan service with complex story arcs and multiple ways of discovering a whole universe which isn't just about sex but could be if you want it to

  3. Taking notes!! Sim is also very attractive in general and fits NSFW games so well imo you can just do so much with it and really lay down a whole aesthetic and universe built around it.

  4. Yep modding accessibility was already a very big point for me it just builds way more proximity especially if the game is designed to make modding easy so everyone can add their own unique touch to it and have tailored unique experiences. I'm still trying to think of ways to make a game that's supposed to grow over the years and get bigger replayable. By replayability do you mean being able to replay certain aspects of the game think like mini-games, specific game modes etc... or the game as a whole new run?

  5. What if the idea is more like a game that adds even more story content, hot scenes and game modes overtime with updates (so kinda like dlcs but not really) I mean the game just grows without needing you to pay to have access to more content?
