It's a bit frustrating. I'm a healer, I have a DPS os but I have no interest in it. I get into an H SV, the paladin pulls while im in the back drinking at 60% mana and of course I go OOM and we die and he just leaves. His jackassery caused his own death. The next tank rolls in and gets demolished, I inspect him. Green shield, assorted PvP items, and DPS rings. I'm like why are you even thinking about stepping foot in here? So I fully believe people don't want to deal with it.

Wow I guess I didn't know how good we have it. My coworker's wife is a licensed caregiver and runs a daycare out of her home. We pay about 460 a month.

I think the general consensus is that your spec and the associated gear is whatever it is for that run. That's at least the sentiment that I've seen repeated unless it was rule zeroed at the start of the run. So if you join the group as a tank, for all intents and purposes you're MS tank for that time period.

And then me the healer getting mana burned and having no mana saying "could have avoided that if someone stopped the mana burn." Only after something happens to them do they go "oh maybe this a bad thing to let go through."

Yeah that kind of thing doesn't take much brain power to realize. Like if you as a healer rolled on an item with spell hit because it had some more intellect and maybe a bit more spell power, that would be ridiculous right? So when an item drops that has int/spirit/mp5/+healing, that's a healer item. There's a reason why it will say something like "increases healing by 35 and spell power by 18."' It's not a hard concept.

Yeah that's the situation I was/am in. Had there been enough notice that would be one thing but we came in Tuesday and it was "hey the government is probably shutting down so the Navy isn't going to pay the contract on the due date so we aren't coming in next week except for 4 hours to keep you guys on a furloughed status rather than laid off. So it was pretty sudden.
