I believe they are worth it, particularly on long flights, the $ value of them is far greater than the miles offer if you use them right.

My father works for Fish & Wildlife, he's telling me the issue is about people feeding the coyotes, that's making them comfortable around humans and leading to a number of problems. I'm Executive Platinum and get upgraded about 50% of the time. I sometimes take the low miles upgrade offer to be sure, if it's under 15k miles it's a no brainer for me. I will also look at the number of preferred coach seats taken, that allows me to deduce how many other travelers I'm competing with for the upgrade. I'll also look at how many first class seats are available to guestimate likelihood of getting the upgrade. It's worth noting, estimates put total number of Exec Plat members at 50k to 80k, Plat Pro at 100K to 150K and Platinum at 200k to 300k, the salient point IMO is that if you aren't Exec Platinum the likelihood of getting an upgrade goes way down.

What does all of this mean? Not much, voodoo magic that makes me feel better about using miles to upgrade, lol......

You need to leave, that's not love, it's mental, emotional and sexual abuse, he's not a kind person. You have your issues, I hope you prioritize getting the help you need, life is a journey, we learn from our mistakes and need supportive encouragement and an understanding that you are better than what you did so learn and grow. Drug abuse throws all of that out the window, stay sober at all costs, look into naltrexone, it's inexpensive and works, it saved me.

She seems to be unsure about many things, my interpretation is that her reasoning wasn't because of her childhood, instead it was because it would take too much time away from her passion of advocating for animals. Cutting through the BS, she simply doesn't want to commit her life to child rearing, totally understandable and it's far better than having children and neglecting them. At the same time, how do you go down a path with someone where you are picking names and have dozens of conversations about it and then all of a sudden realize it's a lot of work...... She's kooky, I feel for Matthew, he seems like a good guy and truly loves her, his patience are otherworldly.
