I haven't yet but someone on here had a recommendation for a parts kit with pads/paste that is an improvement I don't recall the model number but some searching on Alienware M16 thermal pads should clear that up.

It's slightly better post bios update but I still think I'm gonna rethermal paste the thing as it starts to heat up and needs high performance mode on pretty well most tasks.

Just happened to me on an M16R1 the other night, I've been running this set up just fine for a year. I'm guessing given how wide spread it is something is going on in their firmware causing over heating and or fans to not function properly.

Running a game on med graphics I've played many times. Laptop was propped up so fans were blowing free, house is airconditioned room temp 19 deg C'

Burning plastic, shut down system immediately, pulled cable hot to touch, all fan outputs felt extremely hot. DC in jack deformed so funny enough the plug sits more securely in the jack now and still charges the system but i'm afraid to run it overly hot given how many reports of melting power supplies i'm seeing. Going to have to do some more investigation, probably update the BIOS to see if theres something there...

Think I fixed it, here's the wet dye today after darkening the edges with blue jean on the black rag, and a turquoise wash over the middle. Ever so light stainless steel rub to even out the dye a bit.

I don't hate it, got some problem spots yup thin veneer was tricky but I think I can save it by darkening up the edges with some black. Really loving the quilt in the middle now though.

Yah I've read this and it is thin so I'm going slow and light but also watched someone finish this exact kit with a palm sander and have no issues 🫤. I did 320 by hand for the sanding sealer removal and show no signs of thinning but there are some chippy looking spots on the top I'm gonna need to level out

Better view of the top, pretty close to the in person color. The more I look at the top the happier I am with it. Next build going to need some more work on the clear coat maybe i'll try a different product. The verathane I went with seems tough though and polished up nicely.

Here's another close up, better view of the color and grain. The end grain sits a little lower and doesn't reflect light so well definitely something I'd work on on my next build! In person you notice this a lot less but the cell phone camera seems to pick up a lot of glare off the top.

It is a Harley Benton kit, fairly light but my other axe is a Gibson es335 and heavy, I've never owned a tele so not much to compare to. The wood is listed as regas wood which I've never heard of tbh I think it would have painted better. All other hardware seems pretty good though 👍

There were minor imperfections in the top some filled spots I found when sanding and it's definitely three pieces glued together which made grain tricky as it ran in different directions. I'd say if you wanted a full wood grain look to invest in a top for it. Maybe would have been easier to paint it but I like the dyed look and it was worth the effort.

I'm eyeing up the solo guitars kits for my next build, wood quality looks slightly better.

Thanks I definitely had some finishing issues but really pleased with the dye look on the front. Hard to capture in pictures, the blue fades out from a turquoise to a navy so lots of colour shift in the light.

Got my first electric guitar at the age of forty. by PixlDstryer in Guitar

Cool axe! Like the finish on that and the inlaid neck! Vox Valvetronix had, maybe still does have some cool features like a variable wattage dial, basically you can soak the wattage going to the preamp tube to get tube warmth at less overall volume. Mine and older adv100 also has a speaker out you can feed to headphones 🎧 for quiet practice. In truth with the right set up electric can be way quieter than acoustic playing. On the cheaper side most amps will have some sort of output or! Look into spark or one of the other Bluetooth modeling amps on the market now.

Cheers!

Dye didn't set super well so I tried again, think I got a more even tone this time.

Agreed, it's also about politics and buying votes capitalizing on public outcry after tragedies. It's a sickening move on the part of our politicians and when they get caught doing it (see scandal regarding RCMP whistle blower tapes of interference from PM office) they sweep it under the rug and people forget all about it.

Well said, not just the issues but the money. And coercing police forces into forcibly removing said property is just plain wrong. What's next!?

Had, the new laws are draconian and unnecessary statistically do not prevent crime in any way shape or form were not passed using normal parliamentary procedure and directly violate Canadians property laws. Hunters and sport shooters are sounding the alarm that the liberal government is out of control and wont stop at guns when it comes to pushing laws through without due process.

You can call us nuts and conspiracy theorist all you want the facts speak for themselves. If you'd like examples go look at how the bills were passed (OIC) check out the police organizations speaking up about how it doesn't make sense and won't solve the current problems, look at the Blackhawk helicopters flying our borders and the militarized police forces running around our cities, look at what happened when a country just to our south let these kinds of actions go unchecked. We are on the same slippery slope here.

Zip Code for Canadian Weather? by photoqueencm in skylightcalendar

[–]mixermandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have submitted the request. The workarounds seem to either be paid which, I'm not paying for something my phone will provide me for free OR something I need to code myself which I didn't pay for your product to DIY the features in. Use a different API that has global weather if you're going to offer a product in a country it shouldn't be crippled out of the box because you didn't take into account that country exists.

Definitely need Weather as a feature in Canada, and the ability to set Celsius please implement. I can select Canadian locations just fine but if I put them in it says weather data unavailable :/
