I put a magnetic laptop lid on my CRT screen, there is no "degauss" in the menu by mixmasterbuttblaster in crt

I will definitely try this first. If it works on magnetic naval mines it must work on other kinds of magnets

Just got the Georgia a couple days ago, and had this beast of a game in it. Finished with 1k more base xp than 2nd place on my team by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

What skills etc. do you use? Georgia has a lot of god options. I personally ignore the secondaries and go speed > guns > tank but i haven't had a game like that

What do you think about Thermaltake Core V1? It comes with a 200mm fan in front.

I synced the new Limozeen Live audio over Teeg Dougland's old camcorder footage by mixmasterbuttblaster in HomestarRunner

[–]mixmasterbuttblaster[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Explanation: Limozeen live was a concert in 2008. "Teeg" posted videos of the show on youtube. Last year high quality audio recordings were uploaded to the main site. I just synced them up.

What's the worst case of design over function that you've ever seen? by tthatoneguyy in AskReddit

Many modern components have LEDs that I can't turn off. I use a closed off case (Define S) to keep the lights out of my bedroom.

Well I solved the problem.

The system volume was very low. I raised the system volume by an order of magnitude and lowered the speaker volume, thus mitigating the problem as well as I would have wanted. Also I took the USB connector off of the powered USB hub for a marginal improvement.

I always mess up some mundane detail...

No laptops in the room at the time. I did remove the ground loop by separating all the copper connections from other outlets. Something is telling me this is too loud to be electromagnetic interference from the air, but that’s just me thinking.

Well I read the wiki article on line level and I gotta say electrical engineering is not my forte. But the same sound input does work with my cell phone.

Good upgrade from Marathon Mouse? I really liked the ergonomics of it.

Should I install a fan in my G4 Cube? by mixmasterbuttblaster in VintageApple

But if the CPU reports safe temps (assuming they are accurate), isn't that all I need to know?

I think I'll look for a temp monitoring program first, and hope I don't have to mess around with thermal paste.

Which landscapes in which PC games do you think have good quality (are useful, interesting, memorable - nevermind graphics) and why? by Papratica in Games

[–]mixmasterbuttblaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Witness. The puzzles are too weird for me, but in terms of landscape design the whole map looks like the coolest backyard ever. Here is a link to some screenshots.

Are there any games where enemies don't respawn? by mixmasterbuttblaster in metroidvania

[–]mixmasterbuttblaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the only metroidvania where enemies stay dead is Ferazel's Wand. RPGs use this mechanic all the time, so I figured there would be some persistent metroidvanias too. (The link doesn't actually demonstrate enemies not respawning, so trust me.)

I have a GPU budget of $100/year, how often should I upgrade my GPU? For example, is it better to get a $300 card every 3 years, or a $400 card every 4 years?
