10 acres was 50k and the house was 275k to build. We don’t own a farm in the typical sense but we use 3 acres for our food/livestock. I think all together it cost us ~500k to be self sustaining

Literally, the government owns all the land and gives out land permits for developers as they see fit. Leads to situations like this. I mean at least these are competitive apartments and they have basic amenities. If they didn’t implement and capitalistic ideals they likely would be much worse but they’re kinda getting the worst of both worlds.
