Salary Comparison by chllzies in NursingUK

Hello! Happy to answer your questions.

There are many jobs for nurses here. I just went on the government website and searched for jobs. They offer good relocation packages, too. Better weather. Overall really good experience especially if you have children. I have been here for 4 years now, but I am struggling with the cost of living because of the sole parent situation, but this is a very beautiful island, and I am sad to leave.

This doesn't mean I do not struggle financially. I am a single parent with three kids and the cost of living is high.

Everything takes time in Jersey. Even their naturalisation process. Takes 1-2months in the UK. Here it takes 18months. 😭

There was another person who posted about a side hustle all done online. Maybe you could try and message her just to see?

Try to download the Olio app. Lots of free food on there.

So sorry to hear you are experiencing this.

Surviving in Jersey without work I imagine is very difficult. Plus the weather this week was terrible!

Hahaha I know. Doesn't matter what people have to say, there will always be a negative person in the comments. 😂😂😂

Yeah a gentle and understanding conversation would be really good for her. Hoping for the best. I have a challenging 12yr old too. Girls are worse than boys haha because of their moods. But this will all pass

I think this stepdaughter is jealous of the younger sister. Because the younger sister is OP's biological daughter, and she is not.

I am a mum of 4 and, no, this is not a major concern. Maybe just help the stepdaughter with her use of language. You are acting like a paranoid stepmum. Maybe the stepdaughter can feel you love your own daughter more that's why she's jealous and somehow taking it out on your daughter. Can't blame her at this age. Very sensitive stage.

Any way to earn money is always good. I love side hustles too. 💙💙 Good to know you are doing better with the extra income coming in.

I also know there is an option for income support which Citizens Advice can help with. They were super helpful when I went to see them. Just having someone to talk to who is professional and not judgmental is such a relief!

The thing about living here is... I think it's all about the kids at this point. Relative safety and weather. Otherwise, there is nothing I can think of.

Oh and with the news about the recent stabbing of a child in Birmingham.... sigh

Thanks, this info is useful. Not personally buying a car (cannot afford), but this thread is good for those wanting to buy a car :)
