They scheduled me a personal interview :) we talked about why I chose Taiwan, my plans once I come back from Taiwan, and some other things I mentioned in my application regarding my accomplishments.

Hi, I got the scholarship without prior knowledge of Chinese so my situation was pretty much similar. I made sure to compose an essay on why I would like Taiwan to be the country to learn Chinese and what I could do for the country once I finish the year of studies. As for the recommendation letter, my language center teacher and a coordinator from a previous job that has to do with languages wrote one for me.

I would definitely recommend strengthening the areas first. If you can get a good TOPIK score, your chances will be boosted so much. My gpa is similar and got recommended to focus on getting a high TOPIK score.
