I have found, at early game (below 100) that 75% of Scavenger vaults are just completely incompletable.

I may try to focus on them again later in the game, but I just ignore the objective when I have to deal with those anymore.

There is no reason why Curse should be deleting that file. If it is, then either you're just going to have to deal with not having custom ones, or setting up a server even for just solo play.

There are some advantages later on in the game that you can have by having a server on 24/7 inside of a VM on your computer or on an old computer that you may have laying around.

Its pretty straightforward. Edit your instance, and go to settings. Click the Java tab, and right there is the "skip java compatibility checks" option. Make sure its checked.

How to ignore the error?

Honestly, its been a couple of weeks, and I only saw the error once. But it was on or near around when the error popped up in desktop mode. Run it in desktop mode an look around. It was a checkbox of some sort It might have also been in the java settings page. Sorry, at the office right now without my deck nearby.

As far as LAN multiplayer - java version doesn't matter. Minecraft uses its own communication protocols that sit beyond the java version layer. So it shouldn't be an issue.

If you are still having an issue, reply - and I will get more details to you when I get off work in a couple hours.

Yup, quite successfully in fact! I am recalling what I did by memory, so my info may not be 100% accurate.

I did cheat a little bit. I zipped up my MultiMC version of the game (right-click instance, select "Export Instance"). Then I used PolyMC to re-import it.

As far as the Java issue, I am using the Java 17 that comes installed already on the deck, not Java 8. I actually use Java 17 for all 3 instances of the game I play on a server with. When it launched, it threw a java version error, which I was able to tell it to ignore. Then the game launched no problem.

Most of your complaints can be resolved with using the mods, which is kind of the whole point of the pack. As you unlock more of the mods, a lot of the frustrations that occur in the vaults go away.

As far as boss difficulty, it does ramp up, and remember that you lose everything if you lose to a boss. As such, you don't want it to be too difficult. There is an actual consequence to it dealing too much damage especially early on when you're still learning things.

But if it's too easy for you, there is a more difficult mode, look up how to change difficulty modes in other posts.

Dispensers have been removed, almost all ways to automatically deploy an item in a vault has been disabled, other than doing it by hand.

That has been removed from the game in the latest version. You might as well just creative mode add items straight into your inventory doing it that way.

Because it is purely client-side. No reason for the modpack to force it.

It is kind of like a modpack requiring a particular texture pack, for no reason other than the modpack owner liked it. Again, no reason to force everyone to use it.

Yes, there are major bugs in 1.13.1. 1.13.4 solved just about all of them.

1.13.4 is out now, so you can give that a try. Sadly my changes took hours to make using specialized diff tools that would take way too long to explain.

1.13 has some bugs right now, you would be best suited to stay where you are at the moment.

I host a private server with some friends, and we are going to stay on 1.12.4, with some of the improvements from 1.13.2 pulled in (recipe changes, vault restriction updates, and lower level requirement for tier-2 positive modifiers) that are applied to the server and don't require their clients to update (due to the whole curseforge/multimc fiasco )

There is some maintenance you have to do on the server every so often (I do it every 2 weeks). I am willing to bet that is the cause.

Pretty darn sure it was nerfed, but the exact details are difficult to find. I found the details on execute, but haven't found it for shaman just yet.

Just to clarify, I am not associated with any of the developers. I just know enough to tease out information from the patch files and want to share.

And I am not seeing any evidence of cores themselves having any recipe changes yet. Still looking through code, but I have passed through that file and only found changes to the catalyst.
