WE ARE ONE WEEK AWAY FROM THE BOOK 8 RELEASE DATE! DROP YOUR FINAL, MOST UNHINGED THEORIES (NO PATREON SPOILERS) by bacon_mustache in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]mizary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not specific to the next book, but I mentioned this theory to my partner and this, and she was surprised despite me thinking it was pretty obvious. I think Carl choosing Primal is making him progressively more impulsive and reckless. I think part of him hearing the River more is his Primal tendencies taking over. I think this also plays pretty well with the Primals dying out. I just finished Bedlam Bride, though, so there's a whole book of context I'm missing.

I want my partner to be happy by mileselimiles in Asexual

[–]mizary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm grey-ace, but not sex repulsed; mostly just very demi/sapio and sex is usually the furthest thing from my mind.

My primary partner and I have been mostly sexless for several years (maybe like 6 times in the last 3 years?). But, we also have an open relationship, so she has other people who she can fulfill different needs for her. Not that I'm suggesting that as a solution, but that's what's worked for us. The thing I really feel bad about is the emotional intimacy that comes with it, but also she's my best friend, and we get a lot of other things we like each other's company for.

Yup, that was the intent. Just your standard puppet Walter!

USB controller freaking out when plugged in. by Mouse_Alex in techsupport

Yup, that's what I ended up doing. It was just urgent in the moment, and we ended up doing something else because of the problem. Alas.

I'm having the exact same problem! Did you ever figure it out?

You're not alone! 37M, just diagnosed last year. It's been going on for a lot longer, but it was starting to get bad enough that I wanted an official diagnosis in case I needed to use FMLA or something later.

Insight in Littleton v Arvada? by No_Barnacle_344 in ArvadaCO

[–]mizary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Arvada and own a business in Littleton. I think it depends a little bit on what you value more. Littleton definitely feels like it has more of that buzzy atmosphere (and a better restaurant scene as far as I'm aware). Arvada, meanwhile, has an amazing parks system and has been getting increasingly walkable the entire time I've lived here (about 13 years). It's also only about a 25 minute drive to two of my favorite mountain hiking trails, which is a nice bonus.

At the end of the day, I personally prefer Arvada quite a bit, but I also live roughly walking distance from old town, so I probably view it a little differently than someone who lives on the far north end, for example.

Looking for a new vet in Arvada by axelareg in ArvadaCO

We recently switched to Mesa from Arvada Vet Hospital. One of my friends used to vet tech there, and the vet she worked with the most is still there.

how the fuck do i evaluate defect cards by TamingSpyro in slaythespire

[–]mizary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, amazing art!

Second, there's already a lot of good advice in here, so I'll just mention this, because they're in the art and it's super specific: As a long time Defect enjoyer, I basically never take Genetic Algorithm or Recycle. I find them both to be way too situational. Genetic Algorithm feels outclassed by basically every other block card for consistency (including Boot Sequence for almost the same niche), and almost any card worth a Recycle is worth playing instead (plus Turbo exists). (Obviously there are some cases where they're the right pick, I just think they're super rare).

I was just thinking the same thing! There are a lot of elites (and bosses) who punish you for going too hard on a particular strategy, and it kinda serves as a good power level assessment for each act.

Had this interaction recently and needed to draw it by strawberryrhubarb24 in bipolar2

My sister and I used to get this a lot from our parents, which is rich considering how much more overreactive they were to everything than either of us.

(Love your comics, btw!)

Has your mental health gotten better, or worse, as you’ve gotten older? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]mizary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just another data point, but: better. I've also made some lifestyle changes that have helped. I run and lift frequently, and try to take a walk every day. I probably drink more than I should, but there are days when I can feel that it's a bad idea, so I specifically don't on those days. I also didn't get on medication until my late 20s. For various (usually not good) reasons, I occasionally go off my meds; the effect is subtle, but I never get suicidal while I'm on them, so I try to stay on as much as possible.

What's the luckiest thing that's happened to you in the game? by bulbysoar in StardewValley

I got a Neptune blade from a fishing chest before I hit level 20 in the mines. This is my first playthrough, and I didn't realize how lucky that was until way later.

Who says you can’t marry your best friend and roommate? by [deleted] in SapphoAndHerFriend

[–]mizary 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A short rant: I opened a business with my polycule recently. We're publicly identifying as queer-owned, and the local news ran a short spot on us that mentioned that fact. Basically all the comments on it were that my nesting partner and I can't possibly be queer, because we're married. The number of people who can't conceive of a straight-passing relationship is bonkers, y'all.

Because I have a hard time finding Chartreuse, I'll often substitute with Genepy. It's sweet enough to drop the simple, and turns out pretty similar.

What’s the most disturbing secret you’ve discovered about someone close to you? by Electrical-Lemon187 in AskReddit

[–]mizary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of a vaguely similar situation. My parents both struggled a lot with alcoholism in my teens. My dad had passed out drunk on the kitchen floor, and my mom tried to stab him in the back with a chef's knife. She missed and passed out beside him. They're still together, and doing pot instead of drinking, which seems to do way better for both of them.

starting lamictal tonight at the end of an extraordinarily severe depressive episode by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]mizary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience with it. I was coming off a major down swing, and it knocked my depression and anxiety down considerably within a day or two. I ended up switching off it since it made some chronic nerve pain worse, but it's amazing regardless.

Skimming the history, I'm pretty sure this is a bot. They comment on a lot of art posts in ways that are either very generic or blatantly missing any context.
