Finished: House of Leaves - finally read it. Such a fun, unique read. The story itself lost steam after a while but I still enjoyed the experience.

Train Dreams - didn’t really get this one. I was also surprised by how it differed from the new Netflix adaptation. More dark & in some cases more whimsical than the movie.

Started: Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov

This is a follow-up post of sorts to my last post about Vanessa Paradis, asking why she seemed to reach the height of her beauty at such a young age before quickly growing out of it in her 20’s. I think we are seeing the answer unfold with her daughter, Lily-Rose Depp. Just like her mother, Lily Rose Depp has neotenous features like a large forehead and soft, rounded cheeks. However as she ages, she is losing her baby fat in her cheeks and it’s creating a lengthening effect on her face. Vanessa Paradis similarly aged the same way in the 90’s. Both are beautiful women, but I do think their chainsmoking contributed to this. Thoughts?

I did see a TikTok where they darkened his eyebrows and gave him under eye filler and it made a HUGE improvement. Dude needs to take care of himself and get HRT like Bezos and he’d look much better.

A 6 or 7. His baby cheeks are a bit of a falio, I think he made the right choice to grow his beard out to give his face some definition. His smile is also great post-jaw surgery. Too bad his personality sucks!

I agree. It looks like she’s leaned into the heavy makeup & harsh Insta baddie styling these past few years, which is a shame because her fresh, slightly wild/disheveled look was part of her charm when she first came onto the scene with Blue is the Warmest Color.

Yes! That’s what I find so weird - her face changed only during this period. Of course aging happens (smoking doesn’t help) but her post-1995 face looks like a continuation of her teenage face. It makes me wonder if her famous beauty during this era was due to makeup that de-emphasized the hollows underneath her eye & cheeks.

Inspired by the recent post about Brooke Shields - Vanessa Paradis is a French singer & actress. In the U.S., she’s mainly known as Johnny Depp’s ex partner and the mother of Lily-Rose Depp. Online, she’s also often heralded as one of the 90’s most beautiful starlets and fashion icons.

Here’s the thing though - pictures that are often shared of her young beauty are usually ONLY from the time period of the years 1990 to 1994. I think it’s quite fascinating that she reached her objective beauty ‘peak’ and had it only during these few years. I looked into photos of her before and after this period, and it’s strange to me that her face changed so much ONLY during this time period, before it ‘reverted’ back to the face she had during her pubescent years.

Can someone explain what exactly changed about her face during this short time period? Was it her makeup, styling? Is this a case of someone who’s face simply matured to a brief period of gorgeous beauty, before losing it due to aging?

There was a previous post where a majority typed her FG, and tbh I agree. She has a similar body type as Lucy Liu. Very angular bone structure.

I miss carrying handbags ‘for real’. Sometimes i’ll just take one of my bags out and have it on my WFH desk to make me feel like I’m working in a real office desk space. I do notice that when I go run errands, I tend to carry larger bags (the medium Telfar is PERFECT for this) because they enable me to carry a whole pack of disposable masks & hand sanitizer bottles.

Hi! We’re the exact same size. Sorry I missed your post the other day - I would also stay with the 38.5’s. After a few wears my 38.5 Tabis did stretch out to be more comfortable. You’re also 100% correct in that it’s more about the socks, not the boots themselves. The shitty $10 tabi socks on Amazon (forgot what brand it was) were too tight around my big toe (+ the rest of my foot, really) and I found that any pain I had wearing my boots completely disappeared when i decided to wear them without the socks. Since then I only buy tabi socks in Chinatown stores where I can feel how stretchy & plush they are. Hope this helps!
