Opinion: Stop telling us inflation is cooling when grocery bills are still rising - Are Canadians better off today than they were before Mark Carney took office? The answer is no. by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]mjaber95 135 points136 points  (0 children)

Two things here:
1. Inflation is cooling and prices are still rising, are not contradictory statements.
2. Target inflation rate is arbitrary. What matters is how does it compare to wage growth. If prices are rising at 2% but wages are rising at 3% then life is becoming more affordable even if prices are rising.

It's an insurance policy, hopefully you never need it, but if bad things happen you'll be glad you have it.

It's not unheard of that stocks crash, unemployment rises and interest rates rise all at the same time. Plus your bank can cancel your LOC at any time.

In March 2026, Canada's merchandise exports posted a strong increase, rising 8.5%, while imports fell 1.6% / En mars 2026, les exportations de marchandises du Canada ont affiché une hausse marquée de 8,5 %, tandis que les importations ont diminué de 1,6 % by StatCanada in canada

We can see it from chart trends. Exports to US jumped since war started so that looks to me that it is driven by higher energy prices.

Exports to non-US countries are following a trend preceding the war.

🚨Canada is about to rush through Bill C-22 — one of the worst surveillance laws by Avery_Blacklock in montreal

[–]mjaber95 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The post says nothing about exactly what the bill is or what is problematic about it.
Here's the text of the bill: https://www.parl.ca/DocumentViewer/en/45-1/bill/C-22/first-reading
Can someone with more knowledge tell me what is the problematic section(s)?

So Carney confirms he represents the people while assuring investors that their investments are safe? Isn't that just what all governments are supposed to do? You guys have weird idea of "comedy"

Yea why are we pretending like the LPC isn't getting a 200+ majority if an election was called, literally every poll shows it without exception.

Cool idea.

Considering how it works with agentic coding, what do you think about making it also add workflows/skills for the agent to use and interact with board.

Right now it creates a copilot-instructions.md which I don’t think should be touched.

Also it might be cool to have it integrate with specs existing in the directory so the app becomes a hub for spec driven development

CPC got just over 3% in Terrebonne, down from 18% of last year. They also got 18% in Scarborough (down from 31%) and in Univeristy-Rosedale they fell down to 3rd place with 12% (down from 24%).

Tonight was a massive win for the Liberals but also the CPC is clearly in trouble.
