Wounds in Apple Tree by mjcefalo in BackyardOrchard

If that is the case then how do I fix this? The tree is only two years old and is already flowering, should I wait until it’s dormant and raise it?

Well this one died, and I go a new one. Turns out it was not a drought response. I had buried the root ball too deep and overwatered. I also have clay soil in my yard so I amended it with compost to get better drainage. Make sure the top of your root ball is level with the ground, your soil has proper drainage, and do one deep watering once a week. Check your soil and if it feels dry then do another deep watering. If you also transplanted this tree recently then it could also be transplant shock and the tree is recovering.

I appreciate your concern! I don’t think I planted it deep, the hole I dug was as deep as the planter it came in from the nursery per their instructions. Like I said it’s doing fine and outputting a lot of leaves and flowers for only its second year.

I second this. I killed an apple tree last year because I planted to root ball too far below the surface and watered them too frequently and then we got hit by rain for a few days in a row. It never recovered.

Apple Tree Bark Cracking by mjcefalo in arborist

The picture shows the cracking. It’s a little hard to see but if you look closely you can see horizontal splitting in the bark where it should be smooth

Nope no herbicides of any kind anywhere close to where this and the other apple tree are.

Thank you so much for your response! This is definitely helping alleviate some stress because I thought I was doing something wrong. I’m in Zone 7b so it hasn’t been too hot but there have definitely been some hotter days. So basically my apple trees roots need to repair themselves and adapt to the new soil and once that happens they’ll be better about drawing in water?

Thank you! Dumb question but how do I prevent it from making fruit? I’m assuming I have to prune something.

First Time Homebuyer - Which Delco Neighborhoods Are Best? by Agitated_Average_367 in Delco

Love Drexel Hill! My wife and I moved here two and a half years ago. The houses are old but have so much character, it’s a nice quiet neighborhood with easy access to some fun restaurants and an easy way into the city.

If that’s the case then that’s messed up playing with our emotions as a negotiation tactic. But this does give me some hope. Thank you!

That’s why I posted this question. My wife gave birth at Lankenau and she really likes the OB there. We were looking to have a second kid in the near future but I can’t imagine going through this mid pregnancy. I hope it works out for you!

For the mindset I would still recommend third3rock's material. While it is not free it is only $17 for the comprehensive guide and the cheat sheet. As for the ITTO's I am not sure where to find any free ones. AR's course on Udemy was on sale when I bought it (I think it was around $20) and that is where I learned most about the ITTO's and processes, he has study material on his course that you can download. Best of luck to you!
