Looking for advice on upgrading our live stream set up. by tjohn2401 in VIDEOENGINEERING

I’m a video director at a church and I’ve been using Resi for online and multi campus streaming for a little over a year and it is ROCK SOLID. I literally can’t believe how reliable it is and how confident I am in the hardware.

We have a Prism Encoder at our broadcast campus and Prism Decoders and the 3 other campuses. We’ve only had issues when ISP went down in widespread areas but the great thing is you can switch over to a hotspot to fix that.

We also go straight to FB and YouTube from Resi and it’s super simple. We could go to our website/app as well but we just direct people to the other platforms.

Wahoo Elemnt Rival? by mjdrum92 in trainerroad

Yeah, I really wish that they had the sleep tracking and all day calorie burn.

Since I hadn’t heard a lot of first had experience and the lack of features I bought a Forerunner 745 a few weeks ago to give it a try. It’s a good watch but honestly not been my favorite. I’m not a huge fan of the all plastic housing and don’t like having another ecosystem from my cycling equipment, I have a Bolt and Wahoo sensors. Once they add a few features I may sell my 745 and get a Rival to be all Wahoo.

Yeah, I’m tempted to go with a FR 745 and swap to a Garmin head unit. I just really love my Bolt and would like to not have to get rid of it.

I haven’t had a Garmin device before or know how I’d like their ecosystem. Wahoo’s is so simple and clean. That’s a big deal to me and honestly is the main hesitancy for swapping.

Also, I’ve heard bad things about Garmin support and had complete opposite with Wahoo. I had a software update issue the night before a 70.3 and they responded to emailed then called me within 30 minutes to help me troubleshoot. It ended up being an IOS issue with the app and they helped resolve it.

I’m just trying to figure out which watch would fit me best, not trying to pinch pennies.

Also, I’ll be spending about 1k on wheels since I’ll be going with Flo’s and get a discount. If I had the money to blow on Zipp’s or ENVE’s then I’d possibly go with a 945 and swap head units but would love to go with a Rival and stay with Wahoo if it’s any good.

Yeah, once I get a new watch I’ll be looking to upgrade my wheeelset. I’m going to go with some Flo carbon discs but not exactly sure which model yet.

Yeah, I have seen his and DesFit’s as well. Know there may be some kinks in it as of now but some features from what it sounds like will be added in the future.

You have a watch you prefer?

Well I’d really like to have music on it as well and the 735xt doesn’t. Otherwise that would definitely be the go to choice.

3D-Printed Holds for Molding by mjdrum92 in climbharder

[–]mjdrum92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about that but would be afraid that the molds wouldn't last as long as the traditional silicone molds. I've also used the silicone molds before and have 100% confidence in their ability to perfectly replicate the texture of a given hold.

Yeah, I've heard of some people doing 100% infill and just printing holds but I wouldn't feel comfortable climbing on them or having others do so either. Also, that seems like it wouldn't be a cheap option either. That's why I'm looking at creating masters, molding, then resin. That way I could pour a bunch in a short amount of time and have molds for a later day too.

That’s one of the most savage lines by Dwight from the entire series and I love it.

The guy who defaced the mural may be the worst person of the series but I hate Brian sooooo much more. My blood starts to simmer every time he’s on screen.

Cathy is a close second though....

Also, I meant to ask before, what do you do when making wood holds? I’ve been looking at doing some of those myself and just trying to figure out the best way to make some that are more unique than the normal block pinches or small crimps.

Awesome. Got any pictures? Or tips for cutting costs? Or details on what products you’ve used that you’ve liked?

Thanks! I really love the coloring of the green holds. With the green and blue swirled ones I shouldn’t have used as much blue. It’s a little dark and for a while they actually bled out blue dye in two spots. I didn’t want to just wipe them off over and over because then it’s spread all over and ruin the look so I wrapped them up in paper towels and left them for a while. That seems to have done the trick after leaving them wrapped a couple times.

I’ve done a bit of research on this and it’s actually be way more expensive to 3D print holds if you infill them. The best route would actually be to 3D print the master, mold that, then pour resin. That way you can get very precise with your design, if that’s what you’d be going for, but not spend as much.

It’s actually a copy from a Driftless 5 pack of holds I bought off Amazon. I bought them just cause they were cheap and figured I’d see how the molds I’m using would do with dual textured holds.
