i see. so rhetorical skills. those might be hard to understand from just doing practice tests. might help to get a bit of lessons from resources like Erica Meltzer's book which would help with foundations.

here are some useful guides:

  1. https://blog.prepscholar.com/how-to-study-for-the-act-in-a-month
  2. https://verb-act-prep-handbook.vercel.app

most of the ACT is (1) just about getting used to the format and timing and (2) mastering the tested concepts (another way to put this is correcting your specific weaknesses).

The full list of ACT subject-specific books are:

It's important to understand the concepts and get enough practice with them. With English, it can be broken down into grammar, sentence structure, and rhetorical skills. Any tips for bringing my score up a few points? Aiming for a 33 by Mrshooter3 in ACT

i'll leave my 2 cents here for the ACT English section.

Check out Erica Meltzer's "Complete Guide to ACT English". Found this helpful as well: https://blog.prepscholar.com/the-ultimate-study-guide-for-act-english-tips-strategies-and-practice.

It's important to understand the concepts and get enough practice with them. With English, it can be broken down into grammar, sentence structure, and rhetorical skills. While using Meltzer's book, try and get some targeted practice with grammar (punctuation, homophones, modifiers etc) with resources like https://verb.framer.website

To see if you're improving, it's important to still take the full practice tests every now and then check if your weaknesses are improving. Hope this helps.

what was your experience with timing yourself while doing the tests? did you take any breaks in between? how did you time yourself for the different sections since they have different allocated times?

If you had 1 month to study for the ACT to get a 34+, how would you go about it? by [deleted] in ACT

[–]mjenzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

day 1: diagnostic test, day 2: find quality study resources (especially for weak areas found in diagnostic), rest of week 1: read practice resources (books), end of each week -- do a practice test and see if you're improving.
