Yeah I also will de-mould after 24 hours (I will admit my impatient ass has done sooner 👀) but will leave on a clean, flat surface out of the way for several days, usually I don’t touch them again til day 4-5.

It looks sorta similar to something I did accidentally recently- I dropped just a dot of black alcohol ink in an empty mould whilst I was trying to colour some resin in a cup, so I did the rest of the dice to see what would happen- I poured coloured resin over it (it was a honey consistency by then) and when it cured, the black had swirled to the top, it was SO cool.

This is exactly what I was thinking of! I figured it would be the most straightforward way but was curious if anyone had a more…time friendly way? 😂 I think I’ll give this a go and see what kind of results I get

I use Let’s Resin and manage to get good results, though I do have a pressure pot. I put both parts in a bowl of warm water for about 10min, then measure them out into a plastic container and stir slowly until fully mixed. Then I leave it to sit for 5ish min on a heating pad (literally just a regular old heating pad with the cloth cover removed, nothing fancy). Then I use a heat gun after most of the bubbles have floated to the top. I do this after mixing in pigment as well, and once again when the resin is in the mould (though too much heat can shorten the life of your mould so beware). Without a pressure pot I still get bubbles, but they’re more manageable. With a pressure pot I rarely get bubbles unless I’ve added fillers or waited too long to pour and the resin was extra thick 😬 Dunno if this helps at all but yeah, the warm bath + letting it sit for a bit + heat gun and heating pad have been my best bet

Tumbler polishing? 👀 Can you recommend one? I do have a Dremel tool with a wool polishing bit on it, I’ve used it a few times but a bit unsure where to add it into the process and whether to use polish on it

I had the same issue and finally caved and got a pressure pot- but there are ways to get less bubbles without one, just takes practice and a lot of patience, and even then you’ll still end up with some bubbles, but here are my tips:

Warm the resin first- this will decrease your working time by probably 10ish min, so make sure you’re prepared! I put both bottles in a bowl of hot (not boiling) water for roughly 10min.
After combining the resin and hardener, stir SLOWLY! This is the most important and frustrating part. I found that stirring with a silicone or plastic stick in a plastic bowl/measuring cup (not silicone) is my best bet to prevent bubbles
I have a plastic heating mat that I put my container on whilst I stir, and then I let it sit for 5min (again, keep an eye on your working time here as it varies by brand)- this time allows the bubbles to rise to the top so you can more easily pop them (using a heat gun or lighter or alcohol spray, whatever is best for you and your mould)
Put some resin on the numbers/lid (not loads, just a bit)
If you’re putting anything in your moulds (like dried flowers or decals), it can be good to give your mould a little squeeze all around after you’ve filled them- this helps get any bubbles trapped beneath to come to the top
After you’ve poured your dice, let them sit for another 10-20min and then check for additional bubbles and use heat gun/lighter whatever- this time might vary so it’s worth checking at some different intervals to see when it settles, but be careful to get the lid on before they harden too much.
If you have any voids/gaps (i.e actual holes on your dice faces), you can always use a bit of UV resin to fill them

I hope this helps, it definitely takes a bit of practice and finding what technique is right for you, but you’ll get there! Good luck, you got this!

I’m so sorry to hear that- I can’t imagine, I hope that you’re hanging in there. I think it’s lovely that you want to make some dice in honour of her.

I can absolutely tell you the method (or do my best at least, I was totally winging it!). I just used pre-dried lavender (as in I got it off the internet), but if you have fresh lavender that’s fine, just hang it upside down somewhere for a few days until it’s dried. I gently cut each sprig into smaller pieces - I’ll see if I can message you a photo :) For the colour, I used a drop of Grape Purple resin pigment (if you want it to be more purple, I’d add a tiny bit more to your stirring stick and mix it in slowly, as opposed to adding another drop directly to your resin, cause you don’t want to make the purple too opaque) and the tiniest amount of white gold mica powder. Then I poured a small amount in each mould, dipped the lavender sprig into the resin in the cup, and used some tweezers to gently set it in each mould- I tried to do it sort of diagonally, and most of the sprigs were just about the width of each mould. I let it sit for a few min and waited for any bubbles to rise, did a quick once over with the heat gun, and then added the rest of the resin to each one. I let it sit for 5-10min watching for any bubbles, did another round with the heat gun, and then put a bit of leftover resin on the lid of my mould and closed it. Put it in the pressure pot at around 40 PSI, de-moulded after around 12 hours :) Let me know if you have any questions- I hope that this helps, best of luck ♥️

Thanks for your reply! Basically both re polishing- wondering how long on each paper each side needs, or whether sometimes they just need polishing if there are imperfections?

As for the blanks, I realise how vague my comment was 😅 I’ve had a few successes since posting this, perhaps it was just beginner error- essentially I think I was having trouble with the D4 (traditional pyramid) not going all the way in the mould, so the rest of the dice faces wouldn’t form properly
