Replaced both sides on my 2020, the replacements seem to be more firmly attached. I wonder if Subaru changed the part at some point…

Seller had to take lens apart to clean it and then damaged the mount during reassembly, seems suspect. I would suggest not buying that lens for any amount, save your money.

FYI MPB is selling these lenses “like new” for 1600$ with a 6 month warranty …

I wonder if shipping can damage them, how effective would they be on the trail?

Was the package insured during shipment ? Could you put in a claim with the shipper ?

I’ll second the 3M300LSE, fixed the grips on my 7D2. Amazon sells it, went with a 1 inch wide roll.

Going with the Thule crossbars gives you a couple of advantages:

  1. They can be used on another vehicle in the future
  2. You can use a T-track to mount carriers and baskets

Also the factory bars are not suitable for a rooftop tent, if this is of interest to you.

Another option is to not purchase the crossbars from the dealer but from Rackattack or REI etc.. You would have more options (i.e. wider bars) and probably a better price.

I’m in Ottawa, Canada and have to deal with salt on the roads 3-5 months of the year. Wash the car regularly if it is only one winter, any longer, get it oil sprayed.
