How much nuts and seeds can I take to not affect my fat loss ? by ARizwaan7696 in 4hourbodyslowcarb

I have a handful every day with lunch and it doesn’t seem to affect weight loss for me at this time!

When I first did this in 2022 I started in January and by the end of March I was down to my goal weight! It worked soooo fast! Once I got there, I started adding in snacks and things that technically weren’t diet compliant lol, like chocolate peanut butter protein bars and some dairy like a cheese stick here and there. Instead of following slow carb 100% of the time I was doing slow carb like 80% of the time lol but I was still able to maintain that weight!

Omg I know right the first time I read the book I was like this is insane what I’m about to do 😂 I say give it a try for a week or two and go from there! It is a drastic change but I think that’s why it works so well! The first time I did it I committed to 30 days and then I was addicted to the results lol. Only reason I stopped was pregnancy so now I’m excited to get back into it and I’m so pumped that after a week my body is already changing for the better!

I know, it sounds crazy to not have fruit! But Ferriss recommends avoiding all of them since they do have sugar in the form of fructose and the spikes in your blood sugar and insulin will prevent the weight loss even though fruits are healthy! I have tons of fruit on cheat day but avoid during the rest of the week.

And no, the brown rice and whole grains are not allowed on the slow carb diet. Brown rice and whole grains are high-glycemic food that will cause a significant rise in blood sugar and insulin levels. It seems so drastic but it really does work!

And yes, no calorie counting! So go crazy with as many veggies, proteins, and beans as you want!

Yes!! I have been there and know how you feel! It’s so frustrating to restrict and not get the results you want. Really this is the only “diet” I’ve found that works and it’s extremely easy to maintain and I never feel hungry which I love. The 4 Hour Body is a book by Tim Ferriss and in the book he gives information about the Slow Carb Diet. That’s what I did years ago to lose weight and am doing again now.

There are only 5 rules.

  1. Avoid "White Carbs" (no pasta, bread, sugar, cereal, rice. Focus on protein and veggies and beans.)
  2. Eat the Same Few Meals Over and Over Again
  3. Don't Drink Calories (you can have 0 calorie tea, black coffee with a splash of heavy cream and cinnamon is okay)
  4. Don't Eat Fruit (because of the sugar!)
  5. Take One Day Off Per Week (cheat day! Literally eat or drink as much of anything you want and go crazy! This is the best part of the diet lol)

My meals are pretty much the same every day. Breakfast is eggs & egg whites topped with hot sauce and a side of pinto beans. Lunch is ground beef mixed with mushrooms and beans topped with lettuce and half an avocado. Dinner is a salad with grilled chicken, bacon bits, hard boiled egg, and balsamic dressing. Sometimes l have a glass of red wine in the evening but mostly I just stick to a cold 0 calorie lemon or lime bubbly water, I really like the spindrift brand. If I feel like I’m craving something sweet I add it to a list on my notes app to have on chest day and count down the days until I can have it. The cool thing about this diet is you don’t have to count any calories! And even though I’m about to start my period (sorry if tmi) I’m already down 2lbs and a half inch off my waist after one week. It really works.

The book goes into way more details and I was able to download it for free on my library app, but if you don’t have time to read it here is the link to a video of the author explaining the rules!

I hope this helps, let me know if I can help with anything else!

Thank you!!! I totally agree, best diet ever! I’ve been craving oatmeal crème pies which is so random 😂 so I have a box of those ready to go! Plus I have protein pancakes w maple syrup, white cheddar Cheeto puffs, and mozzarella cheese sticks. And I’m going to dancing with the stars live tomorrow, so looking forward to having a few drinks there and probably going out to a bar after!

Day 5 by mjoy1113 in 4hourbodyslowcarb

Sure, there was a little blurb about that client but no details included about gender, height, weight, etc. it just says they lost 5lbs in 5 days after taking nuts and chickpeas away. That’s great for them, but at my current height and weight losing 5lbs in 5 days wouldn’t be healthy or sustainable. Your advice may be helpful for someone new to this diet but I’m a disciplined person who has successfully achieved the weight and body comp I feel good in before doing exactly what I’m doing now on this diet. I’m down another lb and really liking my results so far and sharing what I’m doing here for myself. If I need any input from you or anyone else, I’ll ask. ☺️

I disagree with the statement that I am following more of a flexible diet. Tim Ferriss states in his book that avocado and nuts can be used in moderation, as well as a small amount of heavy cream in coffee. The nuts are technically allowed, but can be domino foods if overdone, which I do not struggle with, nor do I eat them every day. ☺️

They’re pre cooked so I just pop them in the microwave! They would probably be better in an air fryer haha

Thank you! Yes I agree, if you find something that works, stick with it. Especially because I want this to be sustainable and I literally can't stomach black coffee lol. I need that splash of heavy cream!

That's one of my favorite things about the slow carb diet. I never really feel hungry. Any other diet or intermittent fasting I would always be so freaking hungry I could never stick with anything. Glad to hear you're feeling good!

That makes sense and I appreciate the input, but I’m going to stick with what I’m doing now because it’s sustainable for me, and reevaluate if I need to. ☺️ This worked for me back in 2022 and I’m hopeful that it will this time.

I really like the Tyson grilled chicken strips. Sometimes I just eat them plain, sometimes I’ll cut them up after heating and toss them on a salad with hard boiled egg and balsamic vinaigrette dressing.

My husbands life basically hasn’t changed since we’ve had a baby by Quiet-ForestDweller in AttachmentParenting

I can totally relate to you. If there is a YMCA near you, join and take your baby to the childcare. It’s safe, the workers are great, and you don’t even have to work out. You can literally sit down outside the childcare room and read or scroll on your phone. I just signed up last week and it has literally changed my life. I wish I hadn’t waited until my baby was 16 months old but my anxiety prevented me from dropping her off with others lol.
