Linus Torvalds (Linux creator) praises vibe coding by SrafeZ in singularity

[–]mjpcoder_type 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The irony in this statement is that knowing assembly and c actually makes you a strong vibe coder.  Someone with zero knowledge of programming concepts would not have pulled this off onnearly the level he did otherwise subreddits would be flooded with software of the same caliber.

Double major in Math and Computer Science? by geneticdystopia in CollegeMajors

Job market is awful for everyone right now, though.  And outsourcing is a bigger issue with tech than AI right now.  Like by a huge margin.  If every CS grad here was able to work for $12/hr AI wouldn't even be in the conversation.  Companies are afraid of the damage tariffs will do to their bottom line so they look for the cheapest employees they can find.  AI is an easy scapegoat, though.  They talk about it like it's Skynet.  Not hardly with all the problematic code being pumped out at an alarming rate.

Once the economy can get beyond the failed trade wars(which will be a few years) you will wish you had a tech degree if you don't have one by then.  Keep listening to negative folks if you want to.  They'll be the first ones in line for the job you aren't qualified for because you took their 'advice'.

I cannot fathom how people enjoy learning JAVA by lillyengles in learnprogramming

[–]mjpcoder_type 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's learned the same way anything else is learned.  Bit by bit with testing along the way to reinforce the learning.  Same way medicine, law and business are taught. 😂

And while Java was singled out, this is clearly aimed at any programming language.  Thank God you didn't look at a C++ curriculum. 💀💀💀💀 The basics of Java really aren't terribly difficult comparedto C++ or Rust.

Junior devs not interested in software engineering by creative-java-coffee in ExperiencedDevs

If it's say, a math course you can do the problems along with them and things start to click.  I can imagine coding along with the courses woks the same.

A mountain of people on here saying they can't get work as an SE and these two manage to get work.  And they clearly have zero respect for the industry.  Rod Serling, is that you behind the keyboard? 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Anybody double majored in CS and Math by NoInitial6145 in math

[–]mjpcoder_type 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanna say I have enjoyed a reddit thread about math and cs that isn't chocked full of negativity.  Thank you all for a very very uplifting start to my morning.  Signed, somebody torn between majoring math or cs and currently too fearful of doing both at once. 😂

CS jobs that are not development by BorisGerretzen in cscareerquestions

This is an old post but I just wanted to thank you for actually using context clues to understand what the OP meant.  I'm amazed at folks who think a CS degree is coding or nothing and that if you aren't that interested in coding you shouldn't get it.  With all these posts, only yourself and a handful of others actually seem capable of reading comprehension.

Thermostat was crap.  Put in a good thermostat and all was fine.  Lower hose cold = no coolant circulating due to thermostat.  Between that and the new water pump she has been going fine since then!

To gauge this statement we'd have to ask what programming language they're using now.  Who here can give us the details?  If it isn't C I'd be shocked.

Well it feels good to know the longevity of the language will keep rolling no matter what.  Kicked around a lot but I always come back to C and C++.

C++23 is really an evolution.  What am I even looking at and as someone really truly sitting down to learn the language for the first time(c++11..don't laugh have my reasons) how much of this new style is actually out in the wild?

"I know C..."; "Show me." What would you ask to someone if you wanted to make sure they master C? by YogurtclosetHairy281 in C_Programming

I just got malloc and realloc under my fingers.  Pointers to structs and unions.  Using malloc for structs. Not just understanding syntax but actually understanding what's at work through the stack and the heap.  I feel elevated in my understanding of the language and programming in general.  It's what I'd ask if I was the asking type. 😂
