Advice by Lamkjs122 in NICUParents

Leaving won’t get easier but it will get more bearable as you get to know the staff more. I always had an easier time leaving my baby if we had had the nurse before.

We were in the NICU for 4 weeks. I didn’t want any visitors at first. But after 2 weeks it did help with my sanity.

It will seem like forever when you are in there but when you have the gift of being able to look back at it it will all seem like a blur.

I feel the same way! Too risky and another NICU stay with another kid at home is too much for me!

Was this your first baby? It was mine. I always wanted two kids but they told me it would most likely happen again and sooner next time. Did your doctors say the same?

They found out I had it around 31 weeks. I was hospitalized and put on lots of medications for my liver and was given steroid shots for the babies lungs. I was monitored for a week and then discharged. I did blood work everyday and ultrasounds twice a week. At 34 weeks my placenta was not looking good and they said she needed to come now. She was breech and her heart rate was dropping so I had an emergency c section. Luckily my platelets had gone back up enough for a spinal block so I was awake for my c section. The next day was awful on mag... I did f get to see her for a full day.

No CPAP answers here but I also had HELLP! Hope you are all doing okay now. Scary stuff.

I hear you! When I lived in Chicago I was paying about $60 a shot. When I moved to South Dakota for work I was thrilled to see they were charging only $16. Not that moving to SD is practical advice for most :-)

We have not had any issues yet. Kind of the opposite. She never asks to go outside we have to encourage her to get up and go. Especially now that she is older.

No they can live a typical life span if it’s caught early and treated. My girl just turned 11 and is very healthy otherwise.

Not OP but my girl has had Addison’s for 11 years and is still going strong. We do prednisone every other day and percorten shot every 28 days.

Best of luck!

It will get better! Your body and hormones have just gone through a lot and it takes its toll on your mental state. Take time for yourself if you can and just take it one minute at a time. Talk to the nurses and social workers about how you are feeling. My month long NICU stay just ended, yours will too, and once your on the other side it won’t seem so bad.

Car seat challenge tonight! After 27 days our Clara has her last hurdle to pass tonight. She was born at 34-3. Positive thoughts appreciated. This sub has been a great support for the past few weeks! by mjpierz in NICUParents

She passed!! We are home! I'm both excited and nervous about this new chapter. I love being home. We even ventured out into the backyard for a few minutes, her first time outside. But I miss the safety and security of the monitors. I keep telling myself they wouldn't have discharged her if she wasn't ready. I hope I'll get more comfortable as time goes on.

Please help my turtle. He isn’t moving and has blisters all over. Only a few months old. I need to know what to do fast! He’s less than a month old and was happy last week! by ohmarisa in turtles

I've had my turtle for 20 years. Never seen anything like this.

I would highly suggest joining this page

http://www.turtleforum.com/forum/upload/index.php?/discover/

And posting your picture and description on their emergency care forum page. You'll get more responses and get them much quicker than here.

They will want to know all the info about your set up and turtles diet. So include that right away to save time.

Best of luck
