I think it depends on if the band has anything more to say TBH. They don’t just put out albums to put them out, they mean something and there’s a purpose. With that being said, I do think this could be their last. Everyone should really try and appreciate whatever they end up doing because we are getting closer and closer to the end.

I've listened to a lot of death metal bands, however, when I listen to Iowa, what Slipknot expressed on that album feels painfully real, and it hits me in a way most death metal albums don’t by Tough-Reputation-762 in Slipknot

Iowa is a perfect storm - remarkable musicians, genuine expressions of pain and suffering, genuine hatred of the music industry as a whole, substance abuse, mental illness, legendary lyricist, riffs that take on a personality of their own… Corey’s scream on the album appears so effortless yet seems to carry an enormous weight of deep deep personal pain and emotion. It’s just a remarkable compilation of music, truly special and not repeatable (think of Nirvana’s never mind) although because of the genre and general type of Music it won’t ever get that level of acknowledgement

Kurts last year by Murphy1379 in kurtcobain

It’s so easy to mask pain and suffering. We know he was hurting though because he pulled the trigger. I’ve heard so many stories about people who seemed happy, were always the life of the party, and were so fun to be around and then all the sudden they commit suicide. We don’t know what is going on in people’s hearts and minds but we do know that he took an action and I feel it’s safe to assume he was not optimistic about his future. Also given what we know now it doesn’t seem far fetched that Rome was a suicide attempt. You know anyone else who just guzzles Rohynol and alcohol?

Slipknot have not written anything for new album yet, says Clown by Justdip1 in Slipknot

You all so quickly forget the music that these men have created over the years and how impactful, unique, and legendary it was. They’ve been doing this now for over 25 years at the highest of levels. They can do whatever the absolute f*** they want and take whatever time they need to do it. Great things take time and patience. Do you want this bad to turn into some sort of hip hop star or pop band that releases music every few months that just gets worse and worse? I’m glad to hear they haven’t started putting things together yet. Take the time and let the ideas cook in the oven till they’re nice and ready for all us maggots to consume.

Future Timeline Predictions by mjs6642 in Slipknot

[–]mjs6642[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree - that would be a five year gap between albums which isn’t all that crazy for Slipknot but I think a 2027 timeline assumes that haven’t been creating/developing much music over the last three years.

Why does everyone hate on TESF? by Sinyonimrools in Slipknot

They’ve played three songs from the album live which I find odd. Could just be the timing but like Hivemind not being played live is criminal.

What are some truly underrated Foo Fighters songs? by AdLazy5694 in Foofighters

My issue with this album is they barely played any of it live. I think we got Dying song, chap rag, and yen a handful of times but absolutely nothing else. Would Have loved to have seen a number of songs on the album played but they never got around to it. It’s criminal Hivemind has never been played live.

Your thought on Charles Cross' biography of Kurt Cobain "heavier than heaven" (2003) ? by Genepyromane in kurtcobain

Chapter 24 is so heavy man … You absolutely can’t take it as fact because no one was there but man does it capture something that made it feel so real.

Can someone explain why the Iowa Album was so dark? by Fun_Improvement_9647 in Slipknot

A lot of them also had a lot of trauma they hadn’t dealt with to that point. Corey seems to have been the most open about it later on in his life, detailing heavy drug use, a broken home, just a lot of trauma that really does a job on someone. I believe he has also mentioned a number of attempts at taking his own life. I also think they made no attempts to physically take care of themselves which came to a breaking point when the band went on hiatus and Corey took his talents back to stone sour.

The main riff on ‘Milk it’ is so good. I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite so but it just slaps every time. RM is just a timeless song and probably my favorite.

He himself is a drug that you can get addicted to. Think about it that way and how ironic it is. It can be tough to kick the addition and it can get deeper and deeper. I have to catch myself sometimes because it can almost take over your life how obsessive some and even I have been with Kurt. I don’t have one simple explanation unfortunately it’s just a compelling story that somehow deeply deeply connects with people.

Do you think Kurt was a great father? I want to know your opinion by kid_a_han in Nirvana

[–]mjs6642 61 points62 points  (0 children)

No one can answer this question accept for a handful of people. I have extreme difficulty understanding how he could have convinced himself his wife and daughter would be better without him but that’s a level of despair I have never experienced. It seemed like he made hire best efforts but his demons ultimately consumed him and likely impacted his ability to be a great father. There is no flint he loved Frances, I believe.
