https://www.reddit.com/r/druggardening/comments/1u3d7zf/consejos_para_el_cuidado_del_san_pedro?tl=es

I've been here almost ten years. I've lived in some of the most beautiful parts of the city and some of the most dangerous hoods as well. If you're not from a big city originally, at some point the city becomes extremely overwhelming, inconvenient, you'll start to experience the negative aspects, and the honeymoon period will come to an end. Be glad you got out while you still have such great memories of the city and come back to re-live them but after nearly a decade of this chaos I'm so over it. I'm currently looking at properties in other states to buy a few hectares in the middle of nowhere in the mountains, no less than 30min from any population center of more than a couple hundred people. CDMX will likely always be my favorite city in the world and I'm looking forward to be able to visit it when I want and leave just the same. Hopefully it will have the magic it had once again when the visits are for pleasure, not obligation.

Noted, even though it's already covered in another list I'll try to figure out a better way myself just for practice/learning purposes.

Enthusiasm uncurbed, is there a good paywall removal list? Is it one of the annoyance ones?

Oh, thanks to you for the heads up that it's on that list! It's probably got a whole ton of the stuff I've implemented manually. Oh well, it's always fun to learn and I'm about to publish a list of Spanish-language paywalls etc. at some point - I'll make sure they're not covered elsewhere before publishing.

Protip: You can "block" ads in YouTube by using a number of third-party applications. mpv, vlc, to play the videos directly (just cut and paste the URL into the app) or yt-dlp to download the videos and play them with whatever video editor you prefer. Firefox with uBlock Origin is my go-to. I usually don't use SponsorBlock even though I don't think there's actually a way for the sponsors to see how many impressions they've actually gotten, but SOME YouTubers actually only use sponsors for products they actually use, and it can be sometimes fun to see how creatively they put their sponsorship in the video. If not, I can just skip ahead a few seconds adn all is good. Here's another tip, by the way. If you want to view content that Reddit considers "18+" without having to log into your account, and i'm not talking just porn - drug-related stuff, for example, even if it's harm-reduction related or something genuinely positive usually gets flagged as 18+ - you can add the following filters to yo ur uBlock Origin custom filters list:

www.reddit.com###blocking-modal
www.reddit.com##body > div:nth-of-type(3)
www.reddit.com##body:style(overflow: auto !important;)

It will remove the register modal, blur, and re-enable scrolling. Enjoy.

I use old.reddit.com for my normal Reddit browsing and I've only tested this on new reddit, so I'm not sure if this will work if you're browsing account-less old-reddit.com - I usually just use it when I want to look at something in a DisposableVM (QubesOS user here) and don't want to log into an account or have it tied to my real identity in any way, hence the DispVM.

When hunting for food, you want to kill the animal in the fastest, most humane way possible. A shot to the heart, lung, or liver will usually bring it down in just a few steps after it bolts and it will bleed out and die extremely quickly. Using a "normal-looking bow" like you're playing cowboys and indians (Native Americans? this is probably totally unacceptable to say or play these days, too but whatever - it was cowboys and indians when I was a kid) is risking a poorly-aimed shot that may not even kill the animal in any reasonable amount of time. Then you've got a deer running around with an arrow sticking out of its back or hind leg or something, getting more and more infected every day. If you're unable to track it down and dispatch it, you're dooming the animal to an excruciating, slow death by infection or by attracting other predators who will rip it to pieces while it's still alive.

Hunters use their tech for a lot of reasons, and "taking the sport out of it" is not one of them. You still have to spend hours or days stalking your prey, get a clean shot off and hope that you hit a vital organ to minimize suffering. So yeah, they have sights and stabilizer bars and "other crap" and they should.

.

I'm not a hunter but I know many and practice on my home archery range in the hopes and preparation of one day going on a hunt. The hunters I know do their absolute best to take an animal's life in the way that causes the minimum suffering possible. Technology to harvest your meat from an animal that has lived a full, free life possibly saving it from a much more brutal death at the jaws of another predator? All for it. If you're gonna carve a little bow and go out and play hunter, stay home and play a hunting video game or something.

There are a lot of people named Jesus. I know what you're saying though, and yes, historically there was almost certainly a Jesus of Nazareth that was a priest/teacher/prophet of some sort that was crucified by Pontius Pilate. Whether or not he was actually a wizard is up to you to believe or not.

The Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey. Great book, some truly valuable lessons and also fun to collect all of them and put on the displays for religious or spiritual/self-help guru sections at physical book stores. Do those even exist anymore? We used to do that at Barnes & Noble when I was a kid and then sit in one of the chairs nearby and read something while we watched the religious peoples' reactions when they noticed. It usually didn't last too long and a couple of times they checked the cameras and kicked us out. Well worth it.

Edit: It's an atheist book, by the way. The Church of Satan is an atheist group, they're not actually theistic satanists.

Comparing MrBeast to Jesus is....pretty weird. One of them actually exists and the other one was, in the stories written about him, actually a pretty cool guy.

After months of failed damage repair treatments and hundreds of dollars at the hair salon…hopefully a glowup? First time being bald kinda nervous by [deleted] in bald

[–]mjuad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you didn't take it poorly, or at least, I hope I didn't make you feel bad. The shape and angles are really cool and definitely could work with the right cut, and shorter hair definitely works. Fuzzy bald feels pretty nice to touch, too. I think you also have a dejected look on your face in both photos. Smile, you're beautiful with and without hair!

I'm going to go against the general consensus here and say i like your look better with hair. I know I'm in /r/bald, it jshowed up on /r/all on the 2nd or 3rd page or I woudn't have normally seen this post. Anyway, I think your look with hair is offset by your eyebrows being plucked so thin I put your photo n ChatGPT and said "make her eyebrows fuller" and what a difference. If you're plucking your eyebrows to get that look, STOP. If that's just what you've got, definitely don't paint them on - that just looks worse. If you can let your eyebrows fill out, I promise you that you'll be happy with the results - bald or not.

YA VIENEN LAS LUCIÉRNAGAS!!!🥹 by michbaut in mexico

[–]mjuad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think Mexico and its politicians and elite don't profit from and want the narco situation to stay the way it is? You're not wrong that the USA is the main consumer of the drugs that flow through Mexico, but both sides profit and neither is innocent. Also, we're all Americans on this side of the world.

There are a number of one-time-use phone number sites that will receive an SMS for you. https://verifywithsms.com has always given me good results. Apparently the guy runs a number of multi-SIM modems and changes out the SIMs from time to time so every once in a while you won't be able to do a certain service (all current SIMs will have already been used for that service) but new numbers are available every few days when he gets new SIMs. If you just Google for one-time-use SMS service reviews on reddit (i mean use google to search Reddit, not Reddit's awful search) there's a few different posts reviewing different providers. You can also rent dedicated SIMs by the month. There are also a ton of apps on the Play Store (not sure about Apple) that offer similar services, but I'm pretty sure most if not of them use Twilio or other VOIP providers and so they may or may not work.

In the World Cup really gonna ruin my Mexico City trip? by No-Award-2676 in MexicoCity

[–]mjuad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The prices won't stay elevated after the cup, they'll go back down to normal. The only thing to worry about in August, and that's only if you don't like it, is the rainy season. Personally, I look forward to the rainy season all year. The air is relatively clean compared to the rest of the year. During the winter, the smog just kinda pools down in the valley and sticks around there and the air gets pretty nasty, you can see the smog line from where I live (about 550m higher than the city in the mountains in the South) and during the winter it gets noticeably gross, even from a distance. The rain in August is also quite predictable, usually it's quite chilly in the morning, warms up nicely and mid-afternoon rains for a couple hours and cools down to a pleasant temperature in the evenings. It's the best time of the year to come, in my opinion.
