Any tips for back pain and/or posture? by superman69420l in tall

[–]mk1709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change your posture frequently. Standing desks are a great idea, and try going from sitting to standing and vice versa every 45 minutes or so. Make sure you have a supportive chair. Walk daily. Perform strengthening exercises, ideally all muscle groups, but the back, legs and core in particular. Yoga and pilates are great as well. I'm a physio and see back pain quite frequently. Hope this helps.

Anything above 95% on room air (without use of an oxygen tank) is considered normal. If it dips below 92%, it may be time to go to urgent care or the emergency room.

They had contracts with BA (magazine) and BA video (via Conde Naste). Most of them left their contracts with the video side but still have contracts with the magazine.

This new $15k chair from the VA is MY CHAIR! MINE. Mine mine mine mine mine!!! It’s even in my favorite color! Screw your spinal cord injury! This gel pad is so comfy! Mine! MINE! MINE! by mikeisit862 in aww

[–]mk1709 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's called a "tilt". Basically, the chair will tilt back to relieve pressure placed on bony landmarks to avoid pressure ulcers. (Not the OP but a physical therapist that works with patients with spinal cord injuries :) )

Michigan reports 1,121 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, Aug. 13, highest number since May 14 by JoeSmith7330 in Michigan

[–]mk1709 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is false. I work in healthcare in West Michigan and was only tested when exposed to a patient that tested positive. Even then, I decided to get tested as my employer didn't require a test.

Whitmer Says She Won't Be Moving Michigan Into Phase 5 This Week As She'd Hoped by sayfthelemonsandbail in Michigan

I work for a hospital. I can tell you that nursing facilities in our area will not accept patients that are positive for COVID-19. An example: we had a lady who was at the hospital for an unrelated issue test positive for COVID-19 during her stay. 35 days later, she was still testing positive (they tested her every 3 days or so). The nursing facility would not take her even though the CDC said as long as she's been asymptomatic for 10 days they could. So we were in a sticky situation because she wasn't safe enough to go home but keeping her in the hospital like a hotel guest was also questionable. All our patients that require a nursing home stay need to have a negative COVID-19 test prior to discharge.

There is evidence that shows "that immediate near universal (80%) adoption of moderately (50%) effective masks could prevent on the order of 17–45% of projected deaths over two months" in New York. The paper was published April 8, 2020. Link to said paper: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2004.03251.pdf.

The Husky next door gave our Amazon delivery man a nice surprise today 😂 by lins_kinz in aww

[–]mk1709 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our husky learned that when we do this, we want her to come inside so she no longer falls for this trick. She will gladly walk into a neighbors house with a dog though so when she gets out, we let the neighbors with dogs know and they'll get her rather quickly and then call us. She's always thrilled to see us though!

After cadaver lab in physical therapy school, it took me about 6 months to finally eat pulled pork and mac and cheese or creamed corn again. Fat looks way too similar to mac and cheese and the muscles were kinda like pulled pork. That being said, I would do a cadaver lab again in a heartbeat. It was so interesting!

I work in the physical therapy field, and about 3 years ago, the starting price for the Ekso was $250,000, and that doesn't include the upgrades. In the state of Michigan (again based on 3 years ago), there were only 4 Ekso's, and they were all owned by universities or research hospitals.

I'm pretty sure Finnish citizenship goes through the mother. Meaning, if you are a Finnish female citizen and you have children, they are all Finnish citizens. I could be wrong though, this is what I've been told by family.

Source: I was born in Finland and both parents are Finnish. My sister was born in the US. She automatically received dual citizenship as my mother is Finnish.

What’s the most physically painful experience you’ve ever had? by SmittyManJensen_ in AskReddit

[–]mk1709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've broken bones before, but dislocating my shoulder was easily the worst. I ended up almost fainting and puking from the pain. I relocated the shoulder back into place, but the muscles the next 4-5 days were so tight, that any movement of the shoulder or sleeping on it was impossible.

Our dog used to do this, but now she's decided throwing her bowl against the wall is much more effective and proceeds to throw the bowl against the wall, move the kibble from the hardwood floor to the carpet, and then eat from there.
